BIS for solo 2H chosen?
Hi all, my chosen's getting up there and previously I was set on 3 warlord/6 off sov with flesheater rings for solo roaming. However as I inspect higher ranked chosen that are solo I see the 3 vic/3 off sov/3 tri setup a fair bit. I can see the merit of having all those stats but not sure it's worth losing out on the set off sov bonuses. But the more I think about it, having those huge stats would be more beneficial for solo play and having bonuses seems better if you have support. Thoughts from other high ranked chosen would be appreciated as I don't want to stuff up crest purchases.

Re: BIS for solo 2H chosen?
There are basically 3 playstyles for solo chosen.
1. Supreme heal over time defensive - wear your opponent down over time - dmg bonus with Daemonclaw is 150-180
2. Max dps (5 Sov/ 4 Vic or a mix of sets) - dmg bonus with Daemonclaw is ~240-280
3. Hybrid (Sov/Vic/WL) - dmg bonus with Daemonclaw 180-225
Also, the build. You basically chose between having Quake or Downfall. I run the Quake version so that if I am 1v1 and I see more enemies about to join I turn Agony off and get ready to Quake (stagger) and run away.
Basically, there is no BIS for solo Chosen, there is BIS for the playstyle. Pick the playstyle and then you can pick the gear.

Thanks very much Illuminati. Given my playstyle I'm going hybrid as I think having more stats will improve survivability for me.
Re: BIS for solo 2H chosen?
Been looking over what the modern meta for 2H chosen is like. Seems like the Hybrid is the overall best for my playstyle. 2WL/3VIC/ the rest off sov.
The weapon skill bonus from warlord is such an insanely useless thing it honestly feels bad just looking at it. Why is that even a thing for Chosen?
Welp, off to grind another 1.7k crests.

This is the exact same setup I've come to as well!kazuya482 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 4:20 am Been looking over what the modern meta for 2H chosen is like. Seems like the Hybrid is the overall best for my playstyle. 2WL/3VIC/ the rest off sov.

It's the same setup i used to roam with the SM solo, 2 Warlord ( Chest + boots) 3 Vic( Belt, Cloak, Trinket) 4 Off sov ( Helm, Shoulder, Trinket, Gloves).Nauht wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 5:49 amThis is the exact same setup I've come to as well!kazuya482 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 4:20 am Been looking over what the modern meta for 2H chosen is like. I came to the conclusion that this setup is more effective, 5 off sov (Helm, Shoulder, Cloak, Gloves, Trinket) /Grimmer shimmer/ 3 Vic ( Belt, Boots, Trinket)
Of course Chosen and SM are a bit different, however at least for the SM it was basically a trade- off between 4 parry /300ish armor/ 70ish stats (WL setup) vs 6x regen/ 8%crit chance Grimmer setup, the latter proved more effective overall.
I went back to the WL setup for duels in the arena due to the status of the grimmer chest being unethical vs fellow realm players, still it was the optimal setup i found for a balance between def/offense ( I used the Def SC weapon to compliment each setup).
Re: BIS for solo 2H chosen?
Thanks for the insight Farrul. I've got a grimm bp too and was wondering if the lower stats/armor was worth it vs WL pieces. You've helped me make up my mind about it.Farrul wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 7:41 am

Np. Yes so essentially a difference of 300ish armor is not that huge between the chests when armor is between 4700-5000 with a blue armor pot.Nauht wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:58 amThanks for the insight Farrul. It comes down to the 70ish stats and 4 parry vs 60 regen 8% Crit chance, the extra crit will have the most significant impact on performance imho.

Re: BIS for solo 2H chosen?
I've been running the WL/SOV/VIC set combo for a while now. The reason I avoid the Grimshimmer chest is because players learn quickly you wear it (they inspect you on Killboard) and will avoid you all together if you have too much Heal Over Time.
I run around +300 every 4 seconds, which can make your solo fights close in some cases, but can also give you enough to get away from bad encounters (multiple enemies joining, etc.).
If you go full +460 + lini (+80) you end being igrnore like that Fatdrunk IB or that Slayer H'somthing (though I like his approach with Slayer given how crappy the mechanic is).

Re: BIS for solo 2H chosen?
I'll add that having to run from most AM's and having an AM leading the Killboard seems fundamentally wrong for the game. No other class has their 'offspec' so deadly where you get dotted up and channeled and the only counterplay is to be far enough away when it starts to have a chance.
It makes the BG super disrupt build look fun. In the case of AM's is where I support going max heal over time with Chosen though I'm not sure you can outheal AM dots.
