Chalice [DoK] Build Guide (April 2025)

So I've had quite a few people reach out to me and ask me to start doing some forum guides again, and after some time I've finally decided to do them.

Before I get into this guide, I want to preface that this is what I personally believe to be the best route and build for Chalice DoK. This isn't related to RoR team Views and such either, Just me as a player .

Mastery Build -


This is what I run on my DoK. Tactics are Discipline, Bound by Blood, Khaine's Bounty, and efficient patching. Some honorable mentions for tactics you can run are Restored Motivation, Potent Covenants, Khaine's Vivification and Resto burst. Depends how you want to play.

Mastery you'll pick up The 2 tactics I already mentioned that I run (Khaine's Bounty and Eff. Patching.) then Khaine's Vigor and Khaine's Refreshment. Then you'll move into Path of Sacrifice and pick up Devour Essence, very useful ability to throw on your MDPS or Tanks.

Renown -




This is how I run my renown, 2 Init, 4 Toughness, 3 Wounds, then Full Heal Crit. the 1 willpower was just to throw my last point somewhere "useful". With Toughness, you are going to feel a good difference in survivability at sub 200 toughness compared to sitting roughly at 350. Initiative is just so I don't have to put any points into Futile Strikes. When you are leveling, you will need to put points into futile strikes so you can be at 0% chance to crit, or near. but once you get into BiS you can get to a point where you don't need any points into it.

Gearing -

Decimator (Tier 1 RvR)
Havoc (Tier 2 PvE)
Devastator (Tier 3 RvR)
Annihilator (Tier 4 RvR)
Redeye (Tier 4 Dungeon, Gunbad). Conqueror is an honorable mention here, but it's not worth the crests in my honest opinion. If you get the gear from gold bags, then sure go for it, but i personally ran full Redeye at this level.
Vanquisher (Tier 4 RvR). You will sit in Full vanquisher until your best in slot. Invader is an honorable mention, but the pieces are too expensive to be worthwhile.

Best in Slot - Here we go, Best in Slot. I'll go piece by piece and what talisman to throw into them.
Sovereign Gorget of the Souldrinker - +24 Wounds.
Sovereign Painmantle of the Souldrinker - +136 Armor Bonus
Sovereign Paincloak of the Souldrinker - +24 Toughness
Triumphant Breastscale - +136 Armor Bonus
Sovereign Armscales of the Souldrinker - +136 Armor Bonus
Triumphant Bladebelt
Triumphant Bloodwades - +136 Armor Bonus
Apostles Xiphos of Tyranny (RR45 Weapon) - +24 Toughness
Apostles Chalice of Tyranny (RR45 Weapon) - +24 Initiative
Exquisite Gunbad Diamond
Platnium Citrine Annulus
Triumphant Blood Coil Replica (expensive I know, I personally run Sentinel Pain Link and throw a +4% Heal Crit talisman in it from the soulstones because I personally cannot be bothered farming 10,000 crests for it, I'd rather just buy another full set of Sov.)
Sovereign Blood Coil of the Souldrinker

This will be your Best in Slot setup for Chalice DoK. It is expensive, I know but it is very worth it. These will be your stats when you are fully buffed up -







When you hit Rank 36, you will definitely want to run atleast 2 Piece Genesis of the Curative.

Assuming you're chugging heal crit linis instead of wp pots - why aren't you investing more in willpower? Does it really scale that poorly as to make it not worth trying to softcap?

There's absolutely zero reason to use willpower pots. 800 willpower is easily enough. 600 willpower was enough few years ago. Why you shouldnt use willpower pots because there are many classes that can buff your willpower like Sm/blorc by 120 And Ib/Bg by 480 willpower! Wounds + 5% Heal crit is the "bis" liniment to use with all healers imo. Espesially because Crit rate/Crit Power procs stack with Crit potions. Willpower or any otherstat will not stack with buffs/procs.

Quick question: What is your reasoning behind not speccing into Soul Energy? In my eyes it seems like a huge waste to not pick it up.

No Futile Strikes is very interesting too.
In small scale/scs where incoming damage is less than orvr I imagine that Khaine's Bounty can protect you against most of the AOE fluff damage coming your way so having low anticrit can be fine. But, even then, you are still going to struggle with crits under focus.
Is the build mainly meant for small scale/scenarios?

Soul energy + restore essence is quite huge life sever when you try to keep focused target when you are on run. Personally i like very much soul energy but it should preplan its useage cos of the high rf cost.
I also like 1001 dark blessings moral imo is superior to the basic one and i got poits cos i go middle tree for bloodthirst tactic which works good for dou zerg surfing. From right tree i like pillage essence skill, it is quite valuable for small scale.

Ps i hate sword appearance on chalis ban that misleading ****

Willpower isn't much worth going over 800. 800 will be your sweet spot but after that you get diminishing returns on it

When I first looked at soul energy it didn't seem like a worthwhile ability to pick up, since it is only your heals and will only proc 5-6 times over 1 minute and is an expensive ability. Maybe I am wrong on it and should test it out, but on paper it didn't seem all that worthwhile.

With regarding the 0 FS, I personally don't think its ever worth going over the 0% CTBC just because in my eyes you get alot of diminishing returns on it, and no matter how low your CTBC is you are going to be crit anyways, so I always just get it to 0. I've found the build to work effectively everywhere.

I know a Few DoKs that use 1001 dark blessings and I do agree that it is a pretty good morale for keep/fort pushes and such, i don't personally run it mainly because I rarely find myself getting to morale 4, I'll have to either use one of my other morales to keep someone in the group up.

I find it to be effective on the frontline, its helped a fair bit in SCs and such.

We need the E&C math guy to work up if its worth it going negative crit. He seems to have a good handle on the meta and what the efficacy would be to go lower vs other renown selections.
