Keep the ideas coming with this team.

Internally, we have discussed just this thing; just have never nailed down a true way to do it or a fair way of doing it.

Not saying its even something we will do, or talk about anymore, but I love ideas.

In order to keep renown as something that can be obtained from PvP only (thematically: notoriety towards the enemy realm/reputation towards yours), maybe you could introduce a rested Renown system (similar to the rested XP system) when doing PvE.

For example, when online, not flagged for RvR and having completed a Quest/PQ in the last hour you get the rested Renown status/flag on your character. After having that status for e.g. 1h you start generating Rested Renown up to a certain cap (maybe a couple Renown Ranks).

I want to say that I, and I guess nobody else here, promote that you should be playing this game only through PvE. Like I wrote in my third sentence in the beginning, PvP should always be priority number one.

I understand your fear that new players could get disillusioned, but is it really a real scenario?

I mean, if a new player stumbles over this game, never read about it, never saw a video, never ever heard anything about it, and then ignores all quests related to PvP (which are not few in the beginning) and also ignores the advice chat, where people constantly write about PvP-related stuff, then yes, he maybe could be surprised about the endgame. And even then I would be sure that that person probably wouldn't stick around that much if he or she had to do PvP right from the beginning. But at least that hypothetical person wouldn't be at RR 0 and could change their mind and begin to farm crests right away to start their PvP journey and could even get a few items out of bags to wear.

But let's be real. The game advertises its great PvP and mass RvR. That's the main reason a lot of players begin this game. A healthy mix would be the desired outcome. We all know those days where nothing moves forward or one side utterly dominates in the lakes. You don't learn anything or get any rewards on such days, and that's what makes new players bitter (and old players alike). And only then should people have a way to get at least a bit of progress and be able to experience the probably hundreds of hours of work that got put into the PvE rework.
Yeah right, you only want a way to keep up during bad RvR nights by playing a little PvE to keep having fun. You know that if you give people an out of this terrible RvR system we currently have that they would almost exclusively level using PvE. The only way I could salvage your suggestion would to make sure every bit of this PvE you are now giving RR for is something that could be invaded just like ToVL.

PvE has way to much already to make it a fun and usable game mode, good gear, good mats and good lore. Hell just bring back the champ rats at least that you are in the lakes and can be killed so any RR you get is sorta earned. As it is a veteran CR40 RR0 player in BiS PvE gear is better than 40/55 in conq/vanq newish player and now you are going to give them 30 to 40 renown ranks? for not actually playing the primary game mode?

Your entire proposal is a cry out to fix RvR so lets just do that as its the entire purpose of the game anyway.

I like this idea, a way of accruing a renown bonus by doing PvE activities. It offers an option for those who want to do PvE, but you don't get the payoff unless you participate in PvP. I imagine it working by accruing experience by doing PvE activities, a certain percentage of that experience is 'banked' as a renown bonus up to a certain amount, and that banked bonus is consumed as you earn renown points in PvP.

It actually makes more sense to work this way than the rested bonus currently works, which at the moment is really just a reward for doing nothing I guess.

Conqueror is 45. Getting to 40/40 while doing PvE? So 1 RR per level? I mean, why not. If some people want to play for PvE, it doesn't hurt anyone. Warhammer has a fan base who just wish to enjoy Warhammer things. In essence, this game feels a lot like "wow" and may attract MMO tourists who don't much of the "RvR" style of MMO RPG. They will be poesseing low to none on Warcrest due to be doing PvE, but if all they care about is doing dungeons and filling the tome of knowledge, why not?

Umm, yes. That's exactly the essence of what I'm proposing. Is fun not allowed?

Seems like more of an argument for the benefits of doing it than not. If the lakes are boring and scenarios aren't popping, there's nothing left to do other than log out. How many of the players who log out never log back in again? The more choices players have to have fun, the better.

A more active PvE scene may also be better for new players to meet other players and quest together, one of the fundamental building blocks of MMOs. Those players may then do PvP content together, engaging in PvP the way it was intended and having more fun because of it. As important as an MMO's gameplay and its mechanics are, it's the small communities developed within them that keep players coming back.

LOL that's not what will happen and you know it, the PvE in this game is so far removed from PvP that new players who level using it will just quit rather than learn an entire new game mode. This is not WoW, PvE here is a fun(for those who enjoy it) little side of the main game with an entirely different play-style, you use different tactics, different mastery specs and overall just different play-style against "ai" mobs that were dumb back when the game was first released to say nothing about how bad they are now. What they are asking for will only benefit veteran players who what to build a new alt and now they can get to 40/40 with very good gear(bis dps weapon) and never die so their killboard will be super fresh.

No RR for PvE ever. The fact you are asking for it just shows how much they really need to fix RvR/SCs. Quite frankly its insulting that you are even asking for this. There is already enough PvE to do during slow times if that is your thing, not like you are falling behind or missing out on anything right?

That said keep adding more PvE, more dungeons, more PQs, more loot, more lore, new mats, better crafting, but if you want RvR rewards play RvR.

Then ask for more and more fun PvE not free rewards from another game mode. Hey why don't we bring back afk RR like in live? That was super fun, park in the lake somewhere safe, go to work and come back to free RR!

Besides if you are going to be cheeky and ask for free rewards you should be asking for War Crests as that's the actual bottleneck in this game not RR.
