Re: My reasons NOT to play Return of Reckoning in 2025 as a NEW/SOLO player!
I'd actually say the engi is easier to play especially grenadier I just spam grenades and shotgun lol! I'm almost always a tank main in any game I play and order needs tanks/melee bad so I made the kotbs and realized how much fun it was. I had watched some starter vid saying tank was a little tough to play with managing guard but I just installed guard addon and some other addons and it's no problem. I think new players need to be told earlier how important addons are to enjoy the game competitively and I think guard addon, if it was cleaned up a bit, should probably be integrated into the game tbh. It's important for everyone to know their guard distance, not just tanks. The mark target addon 100% needs to be default in-game I would be just totally completely lost if I couldn't mark my warband leader.AsylumZA wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:26 am Dude,
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and I'm stoked to hear that you had the reverse of what I was, perhaps that's the one thing new or solo people should try play is a Tank first and then branch to other aspects of the game once we've learnt it.
Its things like this that I value as input because there's always two sides to everyone's experience and I feel that we can learn from everyone!
Much appreciated and god bless!

How do they have access to none of it, at level 5 it puts you into a guild where people will regularly give you free stuff. Well, not if you don't ask.saiho wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 12:00 pm Also lets not forget that current existing players all buying BoE Items, +16 Talismans & Armor potions in tier 1 where a new player has access to none of it standing quite literally no chance versus someone who just buys the twink gear and goes around 1v5ing in T1. Idk why T1 talismans still exist it creates for an even worse experience for a new player, feeling absolutely helpless & useless to someone who twinks

Thread title is bad anyways. MMO RPG are not solo games. Wrong type of games to play solo. I know moderns mmo being desperate for cash try catering to solo's but it's also what ruins them all and why so many old school private servers thrives on.
There's a plethora of games to play solo. And before any bla bla bla and but, it's not a a 1v1 game. Want to 1v1 pvp? Play a fighting game. Thats where you can train your skills without gear and push to get good.

As a new player since july 2024, the game is awesome.
Re: My reasons NOT to play Return of Reckoning in 2025 as a NEW/SOLO player!
This is completely not true. I regularly play characters in T1 and have never seen 1v5 nor have I seen "all" existing players with BoE items and +16 talismans. Rarely do I see players with armor and stat potions (btw they literally mail you armor potions every 10 realm ranks). And, as if your claims weren't bad enough, a "twinked out" lvl 15 in BoE and +16 stat talismans still isn't much stronger (if at all) than a lvl 8 who just got their set or lvl 10 who just got an influence weapon + lair helm + influence shoulders, thanks to bolster.saiho wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 12:00 pm Also lets not forget that current existing players all buying BoE Items, +16 Talismans & Armor potions in tier 1 where a new player has access to none of it standing quite literally no chance versus someone who just buys the twink gear and goes around 1v5ing in T1. The problem with the new player experience is not T1. It's everything after.

Solo in the context of the OP means joining without friends, not solo as in doing everything in the game alone. In other words, the experience of someone who comes to this game with no resources or knowledge or help vs. someone who comes and has experienced buddies there to help them along and group with them all the time.Pulptenks wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 11:13 pm Thread title is bad anyways. Lol what you are saying is completely untrue in every single way, both as someone who has fought multiple people in twinked out gear and myself who have bought twinked out gear in the past. Ive seen first hand just how strong it is, youre also bringing in lair gear which a new player will most likely not be familiar with. Versus a twinked out toon with all lair pieces, cape, helmet & everything with full on talismans. Bolster brings you up to your softcap in stats for that level which is what makes you so strong, a level 2-3 Bolster gets like around 260 strength but a level 11-13 Player fully twinked out in talismans has multiple times those stats and thats just a hard fact, not to mention you only get 2 free potions in mail both HP and Armor pot, meanwhile twink toons run with a full stack of armor pot and HP pots, youre not competing w someone chugging pots with twice ur stats. And if u think you do youre on some hot copiumgisborne wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 4:49 amThis is completely not true. A large portion of the problem does lie in T1, Its where Ive seen most people give up on the game and quit. Because either side is 200-400% AAO most of the time, people dont want to sit afk and do nothing. And then zone flips to Elf and now youre running a marathon across the map on each death because the zone is too large for a 25% Mount if you want to get action, or a new player playing a DPS Thinking they will actually deal damage to an AM or a Shaman only to realise that once the fight is over their HP hasnt moved one inch, ive seen it happen an ungodly amount of times hundreds of people quitting in T1.
Do you not remember when Lazypeon brought us a large influx of players and within 3 days nearly the entire influx had completely exited out and left the game? 90% of those had not left TIer 1.
