Which Tank for Destruction?

So I've finally decided that I'll level my first character, a tank and stick with it for both PvE and PvP.

I strictly aim to play as a true tank with Sword & Board, but I'd like to ask some assistance since there's some conflicting information here on the forum about the usefulness and strength of classes, which is confusing as a newer player.

Like Chosen are being recommended a lot, but I see most people play Chosen on the Online List, surely there's no lack of tanks then? Or Black Orcs are said to be weak and not worth leveling now, then I barely see anyone recommending Blackguards - are these other tanks not as good?

If I strictly wish to play as a Sword & Board Tank - is there a specific Tank that would be recommended to play to have an easier time finding groups, and generally people to play with? I don't have much time and I'd like to then choose a class that has an easier time getting in action and making easier social connections.

In case a specific Healer would be recommended for this purpose ( easier social time ) I'm also open for suggestions!

choosing chaos you cant go wrong, there is just no weak link there, even mara being not best on dps measure is pretty solid when played good. So chosen, esp if it is your first char
Mostly harmless

Is there any important reason for Chosen over the other two tanks? Especially since how many chosen players are online, is it still easier to find people to play with?

chosen - auras, superpunt, easy access to very high parry
bo - wounds buff/stat steal, 2 interrupts, block channel

- main dmg assist is fairly comparable (tooth/skull thumper)
- both are comparable as guards as chosen gets 50 parry but bo gets the channel
- chosen has far superior peeling with the superpunt whilst bo gets the 2nd interrupt with jibblies (which is great for sc but still big win chosen)
- in a pub setting bo surrogate healing isn't insignificant if you build for it, chosen healing aura is very weak in comparison

overall chosen wins big time, if only for the punt and auras which are far stronger than stat steal

bg isn't really played in snb unless you're memeing around. i mean you still have the superpunt and kd but you both require 90+ hate which is much rarer than you think

Hmm, you make it look like then only Chosen is a good choice for Tank - but aren't there too many Chosen Tanks then if everyone is flocked to the same class?

Would you say then a new Healer or a Tank would have easier time getting into groups? make easier social contacts?

Two posts deleted, hooray I love writing crap three times!

BO is trash play Chosen. I leveled one to 80, and it's useless.

I'd say go Order, they are always lacking tanks and knight is an amazing sword + board tank.

As Chosen you are one of thousand, as knight they will pay you gold to do dungeon runs ^^

No. You always want at least one per party, thats how strong the auras are. Even if there are two u can use different auras and be ok

Snb BO is not just bad, is actually unfun. They are great if u want an oftank 2h but as a tank they are mainly a guard bot.

BG can work SnB, its not the best, its harder to play (has a lot of buffs to use and re-use) but they are super viable, tho again u will get a better time if u go 2h with them

bg is a great tank but in 2h spec
you have an easy time finding a group as any tank or healer on any realm because their most useful abilities are inherent. honestly pick any because you will probably reroll a bunch before getting to t4 anyway
if your goal is to find friends and a guild then they are very likely to recommend a certain class and spec that they need and help you lvl and build it
basic tank and healer skills are very transferrable across classes so don't worry about it. say you roll a bo and then you meet friends who say they want a chosen what you have learned playing bo will still help you a lot on chosen
