Since this topic is getting some attention lately, I figured I’d chime in — no jokes this time.
BW does have some utility: if the stars align (maybe once a year), he can remove a snare, can sort of bypass disrupt with the right spec and tactic. But for some reason, the devs dont consider simply changing Nova and Sear to a different damage type so BW can benefit from his own debuffs. You guys spent ages inventing brand new shield specs for dok/wp, reworking AM/Shaman mechanics, reintroducing ASW, change the bloody damage type for 2 spells, - BW isn’t even close to being the top-tier DPS anymore.
Sorc is in an even worse state. She’s absolutely helpless against the all-mighty WL, who can pull you across the map or just leap over your head and delete you in 2 GCDs. Look at the Agony tree: it has literally one skill worth spending a point on. The Calamity tree? Maybe one skill and two tactics, tops.
Both classes are outclassed by WL and Mara in warbands, and by pretty much every other DPS in small-scale. They have no real CC (not even a basic snare!), no group utility, zero survivability — and that’s it. Worst of all (and this is what really kills it for me): as a BW/Sorc, you get exactly one playstyle — line up your WoP/BF timing and hope it works. That’s it. No variation, no creativity. It’s boring, and way too easy to counter.
And let’s not forget: BACKLASH DAMAGE is still in the game. Almost every other class can be somewhat tanky, or leech, or regen HP while dishing out damage. BW/Sorc? They pay 750 HP per cast. So every attempt at a rotation? That’s 2250–3000 HP down the drain before anything even lands.

I was quite surprised from the mechanic nerf that both classes got. It was so uncalled, just straight dmg nerf without bw/sorcs were op or even top dps at whatever level

IF Endgame BiS BW/Sorc was too strong then adressing the endgame 15%critdmg sove bonus would seem like a better target, instead of nerfing the class mechanic affecting T1 - T4 no matter what gear bracket..
Like. Why should a Green geared fresh 40 take a nerf, because some RR 80 is pugstomping with a pockethealer elsewhere in the lake.

Sorcerer needs a complete rework (bw too). I’d even say they need a full overhaul of their class mechanics and finally get proper escape options. These classes deal good damage, but to actually pull it off, you first need to "warm up," and then pray for as few disrupts as possible. Too many sacrifices for high dmg.

1. Relax range check for 2-3s STATIONARY casts spam aoe fluff already makes rhem 50% slower
2. Remove CD for spells where target died (DURING the slow cast)

Sork need rework for sure. Its in far worse state than bw. Disrupt patch was last nail in its coffin. Why people shoud play sork if sh doin same dmg and far safer?
Sork need access to burn trough and flashfire tactics. If disrupt madness will continue. BW can ignore and benefit from disrupts. Sork only suffers.
And sork tree skils just straight up bad. Those skills shold be signature but they mostly so bad that people just invest points in trees.
Black horror - only usable one pre engage like ini debuff. 3 sec castime makes it useless and we already have scattered shadows. BW use fiery blasts after each disrupt. Sork have 2 masive bomb spells that just cant afford to use.
Shadow knifes - bad version on fireball barrage. Long cast time, long tics. Usually used as filler for 1-2 ticks. Bad.
Gloom of nigth - good spell but very hard to use tnx to 2 sec cast. Usualy u see that your target off reach and completely lose momentum.
Absorb vitality - just crap. If it go trough disrupts, its hard negated by tough and resists, it have long cd and usually only good target for it is pet and turrets. HP gain is unnoticeable.
Echo - our antidisrupt tool. Corp dmg, low dmg, ruins rotation its just complete crap compared to instant undefendable firebals.
Shades of death - bad cos it cant crit. Teoretically it could boost st rotation, or good on the move debuff. On practice dmg too low to waste time on it.
Only thing that sork is superior to bw its st pure spirit rotation. But bw have acces to cd, healdebuff, snaring channel, self cleance, funnel power, mass punt, instaspreding dots. And now bw can even have boost its armor for 1k to negate bursts. Sork resists dont stack with healf buffs or auars.
Yes class need rework. St spec need more utility and antidisrupt posibilities, aoe speck lack of flashfire. Untill then BW will be superior.

aggree its not even a good dps anymore they become a gimp semi dps something like that, i remember on live they are rocks hard
