Slayer feels too weak

They used to be THE melee AOE damage dealers with great damage but not so great survivability compared to the other melee dps options.

Now that the AOE damage got nerfed down and Slayers/Choppas are even more fragile then before (+25% damage in yellow since the last patch) I really wonder what the purpose of Slayers is right now.

They feel terrible squishy right now, their damage is barely higher than the damage of the other melee dps and their toolkit is weaker. We all know what WLs/Maras/WHs/WEs can do...

Please review the state of the Slayer/Choppa again. The class was waiting 2 years for a bit of a fixing while everybody was playing WL. Now they are just melting even faster than before.

I agree.

The whole idea of RAGE mechanic was to have class that has big disadvantage in survivability over other classes, but have advantage in damage over classes. This trade of of survivability over damage just vanished. The damage outopoot is in line with other damage dealers while survivability is utterly low now.

I do also agree. Can only speak for Choppa, but I guess its the same problem.

The proportions are out of line and the changes need to be reverted. Even if we would get more damage output now, it wouldn't change a thing, because you are just so squishy now that you couldn't bring it to the enemy.

If you just get focused by one dd and you have lost atleast 2/3 of you health before you even reach red and if your healer doesn't really anticipate you getting damage and stuffs you full of hots and abso you are basically dead.
If you wanna reach yellow/red before you go in it takes just one WH to pop our of stealth and kill you. The reaction time for tanks and healers is so short right now it's absurd and you just feel like a burden to your team.

There is always one class that is weaker than another.
Why can't it be sl/choppa this time?
Just as we have a very successful tanks and healers balance, there will always be one class that is slightly better than another. It also depends on the type of game: aoe, ST, large scale, small scale, sc, orvr. There doesn't have to be one class that is best at everything, as SL used to be.

From what I've quickly tested, these two classes are not weak at all.
I would say they are even significantly stronger.
A 25% armor/resist debuff on a yellow stance is no debuff. Anyway, 95% of sl/choppa aim to be on red and remove RAGE when necessary.

I'm leaving aside the very interesting solutions with new tactics and skills, which seem very powerful when mixed properly, but there has been one change.
Some time ago, there was a moment when sl/choppa WR/PT made sl/choppa OP because it could remove rage through detaunt anyway.
Now you have that data. Before, it disappeared quickly.

I still see sl/choppa in good hands doing great. Often top dmg/top kills.

And I don't understand SL at all.
You have the old RAMPAGE.
It's not what it used to be because of the new avoid system.
But it's still very powerful, and when used after Numbing Strike, it reduces a huge amount of block/parry.

The Slayer really isn’t worth it, and those who don’t understand why are simply arguing in bad faith (even if they’re a minority). I played mine for years and in many different ways. I was probably one of the first duelists, and also one of the first to go solo with a two-handed weapon, so I think I have more than enough perspective to say that if this class isn’t dead, it’s been in decline for far too long.
The Slayer is my class of choice, the one I love the most, but today I would not recommend it to anyone who isn’t specifically looking for a challenge. To draw a comparison, I struggle far less to get more than decent results solo on my Sorcerer than on my Slayer. But hey, let’s keep going like this so it eventually becomes nothing more than a DPS support.
And yes, solo play is a real and fully valid part of RoR, even if some people have been fiercely denying it for years

The main issue is getting to the point of dealing great damage is a problem as stated above. If you're squishy as f*ck how are you meant to deal the damage without dying fast? Unless you're incredibly lucky.

I'm sick of the Slayer getting debuffs based on the damage he starts to deal. I've said before the rage mechanic is just badly implemented. I'd like to see it work like the ironbreaker grudge mechanic.

Which brings me on to my next point. I main an IB RR83. He's miles better at soloing than my slayer because of the simple fact of survivability. He's able to get to 100 grudges (maximum damage) without dying. There's no real bad downside to achieving 100 grudges. Where as with the Slayer getting to red or even yellow now is a problem. It shouldn't be the case. Give crit chance or crit dmg depending on how much rage you have or something. There has to be a mechanic that's worth building rage other than debuffs or using abilities.

The Slayer isnt worth playing atm, it has no dmg output that even come close to matching its weak sustain, its in its worst state ever and tbh Order would just do better with ANY other dps in there WB's

I would pick any Rdps over it
WL is far better for any scale
I think I even pick Melee SW over SL in its current state

Devs do great job keeping up this game and they should have credit but balancing nah I just think they kinda lost that somehow

Make it make sense.
-25% reduced armor and resist is not a debuff?

I wouldn't say that really.
We have at least one tank class that is very underperforming, the black guard. And overall, Knights and Chosen are still the kings in all types of formats, even PvE.
Furthermore, since heals got a pass at being efficient DPS, i'm still wondering why the tanks can't get a real DPS spec (Arguably BO crit spec is decent, but the rest of the tank classes have basically no viable DPS spec compared to a 2H WP or even a DPS Zealot).

And if we consider healer class balance, although all 3 classes on both sides are performant while played by capable hands, some perform way better at low gear than others (WP/DoK heal spec is very reliant on a high lvl gear to perform at the same lvl than a lvl 40 entry level geared sham/am for example). Furthermore, shield doK and sWP are pretty much a dead class in pvp these days after heal patch.
