Following people's surprise at the armor talisman nerf, which was merely an adjustment of the values based on the itemization formula and something that I predicted long ago, I thought it would be instructive to see how things would change if the formula were applied universally.
Renown (stat costs remain the same at 2.5 per renown point):
20 points spent on block = 4% block (6% reduction)
20 points spent on dodge/disrupt or parry = 5.5% (12.5% reduction)
45 points spent on crit chance reduction = 11% (13% reduction)
0 points spent on Hardy Concession = 100% outgoing and incoming damage reduction (infinite increase)
Base tactics (assuming they should have 160 stat value like the career tactics):
Unwavering Faith (empire racial) = 640 spirit resist (388 increase)
Gilded Shield (KotBS) = 35% disrupt (20% increase)
Ancestral Inheritance (dwarf racial) = 640 armor (20 decrease)
Discerning Offense (AM/SW) = 13% strikethrough (2% increase)
Master of Tranquility/Force (AM) = 16% crit (6% increase)
Flawless Armor (Chosen) = 16% crit reduction (6% increase)
Stab You Gooder (BO) = 32% crit damage increase (7% increase)
Good Wif Shield (BO) = 13% block (3% increase)
Some standout spec tactics (they should have greater than 160 stat value):
Shielding Anger (BG) = 10% disrupt + 5% per 10 hatred (5 - 35% increase)
Anger Drives Me (BG) = 5% parry + 2.5% per 10 hatred (0 - 5% increase)
Calming WInds (SM) = 20/35/50% disrupt (10/25/30% increase)
Abilities:
To Victory! (using resistance aura values) = 1080 armor (688 increase)
Oath Rune of Warding (using stat oath rune values) = 160 all resists (80 decrease)
Cutting Claw (using their toughness debuff as comparison) = 600 armor debuff (1200 decrease)
It's hard to compare many abilities and tactics because even if they give bonuses that can be assigned an itemization value, they have conditions or other effects. Personally, I think it is a mistake to apply the itemization formula beyond items. It can, however, point out some other things that are far from what we should expect. For example: If 160 stats = 35% disrupt on items, why are disrupt tactics so dramatically lower? Why are armor buffs so much lower than resist buffs, yet armor debuffs so strong?
If everything followed the itemization formula....
If everything followed the itemization formula....
