Just because he plays a DPS class, doesn't mean he is a good DPSHargrim wrote:Looks like you are a DPS, help a brother out and answer. Don't be meanie.Zanilos wrote:OP asked atleast 3 questions. I love them all.

As for helping out last night, I ran out of time before work. I can offer private tuition for gold though. Not saying that anything I can teach is correct in any way shape or form.

Funny thing, speccing in War takes actually more of the understanding of the game mechanics then in other mmos I played.
As for defensive stats not working, as someone who plays tank spec dps dok, funny.

"Can we play with him, master? He seems so unhappy. Let us help him smile. Please? Or at least let us carve one on his face when he stops screaming."

I can generally single-handedly stop a good healer from dying to small melee trains as a tank in small-scale. Shift guard to him, move into guard range and challenge the moment it looks like he's about to get unloaded into. The target is taking 35% of normal damage... even less if the healer is actively using detaunt. Punt away at critical times (like outgoing and incoming healing debuffs, shown on enemy addon), snare and body block to get in the way.
Even a low rank or poor healer should really not die to a single DPSer with an attentive tank on stand-by. A good tank makes a good healer completely immortal in small-scale until you get trapped or punted out of guard range.
Good tanks bring a lot of control and stability to groups of any size. This is the reason tanks are needed as much as DPS or Healers in WAR. This is also the reason I see so many Order pugs lose scenarios. They always have truckloads of healers, but barely any control. I've been a healer on Order and a Tank on destruction, so I'm getting super familiar with both perspectives. Good tanks are the pillars around which good groups work.
There are also plenty of bad tanks that just guard and forget. They are rarely in proper guard range because they don't understand how powerful it really is and how heavily it influences the game. Some pug tanks are so bad they don't even use it.
TL;DR: Good tanks make DPS'ers jobs way way harder. Smart guarding, crowd control and well-timed challenges save their targets. If DPS feel overpowered, it's probably because you are lacking good tanks.
