The harder the wipe, the more it's essential gonna punish people who commited more time into the game.

It's gonna put everyone on even footing. I'm not so sure that's a good idea, considering that whatever people have achieved in the game so far, have been through hard work and countless hours. People who come to the server on the day of the wipe, will be on even footing as people who have been on the server for 2 years. Same footing as the people who have been contribution to the project through countless feedbacks, discussions, and bug reports. Is that really how we want to reward our community?

On top of that, you'd have to have basically **** up every single aspect of the game, to need a full wipe: Renown ranks, items, classes, economy, and levels. It would all have to have been messed up, in some way.

Also, what's gonna happen with Manticores/Gryphons? Are they gonna get wiped, too? If so, I'm pretty sure no one is ever gonna bother do bug reports for those mounts again.

This is not too much work on getting 40 RR and full set of Stalker gear, really. Especially, if you know where to go and what to get.
Bretin: "destru classes are in general better for solo play"

"I know that the game is an alpha, and that I shouldn't have gotten totally invested in what I have, but I did so anyway. Can you please change your policy to accomodate my failure to anticipate the future?"

If we need to wipe, for whatever reason, we will.

It's not about "too much work". It's about I already did it once, and I don't really see why I should be forced through that part of the game again, because I quite frankly hate leveling.
I don't care about my gear, nor anything else. But AT LEAST let me keep my level. I don't want to do that s*** all over again. It's tedious, slow and above all: pointless.

But whatever reason could there be? That's what I don't get it.

1) Irreparable damage to the economy or other element of the game system
2) If we wish to analyse the rate of progression in the future (we'd likely take a backup)

It doesn't matter. All we are saying is that we won't promise that we will never wipe. Look at it this way:

America has nuclear weapons
America says, "We won't use these unless we absolutely need to"
World says, "What reason could you possibly have?"
America says, "I don't know, but I guess that means they're not getting used."
World says, "Why not just get rid of them then?"
America says, "You know the second we get rid of these, someone else is going to show us why we needed them."

We won't wipe unless we need to. If there are no good reasons to wipe, then a wipe will never happen. But it's not coming off the table, because after we promise we won't wipe, we'll inevitably find a reason we should.

If a gold-wipe happened (that would hurt people the least, I think), please don´t announce it in advance.

About the nuclear-weapons... not a good example ;)
every nation has a nuclear-doctrine, problem is we don´t trust their statements ("China will never be the first using nuclear weapons" sure.... :D )

Yeah, I fully understand that. Some people just seem to imply in this thread that they want you to wipe at some point, no matter what. I'm not a fan of that, but I get that you have to make the official statement that it might happen.

I thought the nuclear comparison was well thought out, personally. Our stance is comparable - we reserve the right to wipe, not because we have plans to wipe, but because we might one day need to.
