Hi all,
I've just seen that this server exists through Reddit and I've heard a lot about the game before it got shut down. I'd like to play a Healer class as I've always excelled with healing in PvP.
Do you guys have any tips for me before I login? Which faction? Which class? Questing? Grinding? Straight into PvP?
Thanks.

Re: Never played Warhammer - Tips?
If you are playing a healer and not trying to be a dps i would say either side would be fine to play. I would go to the class forums and check out the different healers and see what looks interesting and give it a shot.
Order healers are - Warrior Priests, Arch Mage, and Rune Priest.
Destro healers are - Disciple of Kaine, Shaman, and Zealot.
As noise covered the basics below of each type of healer i would like to add that while WP and Dok are seen as the more tanky type healers, RP and Zealots can be fairly tanky as well it just requires you to spec/slot the right talismans/right tactics, to make that happen. I feel RP and Zealots have better tools to deal with Focus fire/support for the team. Plus if you ever want to do solo pve as a RP or Zealot you can swap out a few tactics and flip on your buff and go to town and not hit like a wet noodle. The other healers if speced in healing trees will kill much slower without a respec.

A small breakdown for you on the healers:
*WP and DoK are the tanky-grouphealers, with a lot of aoe support (group absorb, group hot) and a very strong mechanic for their ressource. These classes can also be played as a melee support dmg dealer.
*AM and Shaman are very good for kiting (running away from enemies without getting caught) and keeping up single targets. Very very strong aoe support as well, if they are not pressured. These classes can also be played as a ranged magic support dmg dealer. AM dmg wise better than the Shamy.
*Zealot and Runepriest can kite as well, but not as good as AM/sham, have very good focus and decent aoe heals as well (unless they are being pressured), but bring a few more buff components to the team than AM/sham. Their tactics and skillset makes them extremely strong paired with a DoK/WP .
Overall the mindset of the players still seems to be that a group should (for destro) either have 2 DoKs or Dok+Zealot and for order it somewhat "must be" WP+Runepriest. Archmages are pretty much most of the time used as DPS classes (because the ppl trying to heal with them are mostly just bad). For shamies there seem to be more healing based players in comparison to Archmages, while still a lot also play them as DPS. Melee DoK also is nothing really uncommon, because the kit is alot better than the one of melee WP.
Guides and builds, should be found around the forums for each class nonetheless

As soon as you get to level 2, jump on your mount and ride to the Warcamp. There, set it as your rally point (hearthstone), you can pick up the repeatable kill-quests (2nd kill-quest you get at a bit higher level. level 6 or 8 possibly? Dont remember) for PvP. Then, just queue for scenarios (battlegrounds - icon at your minimap), and try to go into the rvr-lake and get a feel of how things are.
Playing as a healer - Detaunt is your friend. And you get your first AoE healing spell @ level 20.
Good luck
Oh, and if you're suddenly a chicken, it means you're too high level for that tier. You need to move to the next tier then, lol. Tier 1 is level 1 - 12, if I remember correctly. Tier 2 is 13 - 25, and Tier 3 is 26 - 35. 35 is the current level-cap, and 40 is the current renown cap. So in other words 35/40. That is soon to change though, as Tier 4 is just on our doorsteps ^^

Re: Never played Warhammer - Tips?
And I'll provide more basic things
I would suggest checking class descriptions and looks, nobody likes to play a character which looks doesnt fit him
and descriptions pretty much sums what each class can do and is capable of.
Faction? Whichever side fits you lorewise (want to be a bad guy? then destruction)
Quests/grinding/pvp... about that it depends what you want to achieve. If you wish to get to the core of the game fast (and by that I mean overall PvP, or RvR as it is named here) do a couple of quests, join scenarios and ORVR warband (nordland for T1 as other pairings are not as populated) and rvr till you get to another tier and repeat
If you want to explore then quests are fine, although they reward you with little exp and poor items but it's a good way of looking around the world. And some of them might not work. Public Quests are fun but not every PQ works and you depend on other players to get PQ done.
Grind is good if you want to get max rank fast and jump straight to endgame, I advise it if you are bored with lower tiers and know the game as lower tiers can be as enjoyable as higher ones

Roll a shaman. Goblins are awesome, funny, and hard to catch. No one really wants to be an elf wearing a dress, or a midget. And I suspect the zealots are into some funny ritual based sex acts on the weekends.

Re: Never played Warhammer - Tips?
Didn't you roll a BG, Zabis, back then?
I've always preffered Runepriest and Zealot healing and gameplay over Warrior Priest and Dok. Never played a shammy or AM so can't judge about their healing or how fun they actually are.
As for what to do once logged in, I suggest you take your time and enjoy the ride and try a bit of everything and see how it works out for you.
