Is everyone in here just clueless?!?!

Guys, they are looking at doing some MASSIVE RvR changes but these things take time to implement. Go search Azaraels post history and you can see (rather than cry here) about how they are working on making RvR more fun.

In the mean time, how else can they motivate players to play? It HAS to be some type of character reward. If it's new gear, it's a power creep, if it's new ANYTHING except cosmetics, it's a power creep. GUESS WHAT!? Not everyone will like nor care about cosmetics.

Given the 25% gain rate, this now gives people a reason to have a main. And I'd almost guarantee that once they DO fix RvR, they will change the gain rate. So in the meantime, we now have a reason to play main characters again who are maxed and feel like you get SOMETHING for playing. If you think about how little power creep this will create.... you'll need TEN levels which will be a HUGE grind at the 25% rate for ONE extra point. A few builds will benefit a ton, but I suspect hardly anyone will hit RR50 before they release RvR changes.

Everyone needs to chill and enjoy rather than flip out.

If you want fair PvP that is not supposed to be about progressing then don't expect that from an MMORPG. See those last 3 letters? Every role playing game in the existence of the universe has always been about starting as a half-naked unknown character that likely lost his memory after suffering shipwreck. From there on it's get stronger, get famous, get loots. There are tons of PvP centric games with no power gap but there is a reason why these games get repetitive.

On an unrelated note, 40 Renown points are not that big of a deal, especially not because even the most casual players will be ~60 when the first batch of people get 80

It is why the mmo market is over ... this system no longer works

So WOW moved to casual players

This entirely. Kudos.
Every day I read more and more kneejerk misinformed reactionary posts in these forums.
It's about time some of you guys started actually reading about the server's purpose & reason for being, and then keeping up to date with the actual news postings from the team that runs it.

If a good amount reaches RR50/60 before anything new is introduced, then it will reduce powercreep, not increase it.
In 2008 the gameplay held up on its own, a perfected version(which is hard to do) would hold up in 2016 and a little longer.
