Well the block will always help since with a shield you can still Parry, but you can't block with a 2h. Guard damage isn't that big of an issue IMO if you have a healer, 2h or not. As 2h, biggest trouble you have is rdps: ranged damage can't be parried, you have no htl, and unless you stack resists, its relatively easy to get resist debuffed to hell.

Also you can parry all guard damage. It counts as melee damage you do to yourself IIRC

If you can capitalise the f*** outta parry (2H IB can get 75%+, as can SM), then it doesn't really matter if you can't block tbh. Base block for some tanks is relatively ****, while parry isn't. Not to mention the t4 epic weapon that gives +10% parry when proc.

Otherwise, I agree with Lesti.

I guess I'll play both IB and Knight and experiment which I like better

Sm and IB both better off as 2h IMO. Conditional kd blows, I swear rngesus plots against me with that ****

Can you parry every damage or only melee damage?

Also higher parry on 2H is not relevant.
SnB can parry AND block.
2 rolls better than one.
Guard damage ALWAYS counts as a melee attack in front of you. So yeah, you can parry guard damage even if it comes from a Sorc, BW, AM, etc.

I see plenty of snb sm. I have seen Cythe, Eiger, Celegion, Hyian, Osarion...perhaps a few others, all go snb. Cant vouch for how long they stayed that way though. Some tend to switch back and forth between snb and 2h.

As a Kotbs with shield you also get access to crit increase for your whole group, including heal crit (dirty tricks).

While Encouraged Aim has the double amount of crit, it only affects the enemy near the Kotbs and can be, depending on which side is right in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21173&hilit=the+arm ... &start=160 totally negated.

2hand Kotbs has Wounds debuff, but this didn´t make him superior to SnB by default.

Well if you roll an Ironbreaker, you have to take into account that you will have to play as a dwarf :?
And your mount will be a little attack helicopter
Think twice before doing that!

Jokes aside, i think it comes down to what you want to do. The developers have statet multiple times that they will change the aura system on the knight and the chosen once the client controll is achieved with a working patcher, because at the moment you just turn on your 3 auras and thats it. So maybe this also has to be taken into account before deciding.

If you want to play in a warband, then i can recommend a Knight with Shield and Sword. You gain access to Hold the Line, which raises the disrupt and dodge chance for those behind you.
With a shield you are able to Block AND parry incomming guard damage.
The Tactic "Dirty Tricks" also requires a shield and is very good in a warband environment, as it raises the critical hit chance for everyone in your group by 10%.
If the pressure is rising on your side, you have "Vigilance" which can be seen as detaunt, and that for a tank class! :o
The knight has also access to the "Focused Mending" tactic, which will boost all healing in your group (not just from the healers)

Knight hands down wins the "who is the better tank" battle. ESPECIALLY for SnB. Dirty tricks is amazing as is Vigilance. Even if they modify the auras, the auras will still provide SOME benefit, coupled with knights KD, Super Punt, Vigilance, Dirty Tricks.... Not to mention that a 2H tank can actually be good as a knight too. So its very versatile (assuming you play it as a 2H TANK and not a "lol dps" tank).
Sulfuras - Knight
Viskag - Chosen
Ashkandi - Swordmaster
Syzzle - Bright Wizard
Curz - Marauder
Andrithil - Blackguard
