You hear that John Carmack? No more jobs for you ever, creator of the fps genre.Azarael wrote:Well, that or shitty coding on Mythic's part. Anyone who intentionally designs a game where you get a speed boost from permanently bunny hopping shouldn't be in the field.

Well, unless he was responsible for intentionally adding bunny hopping, I dispute your comparison

Re: Jumping Forward Bug
Well, considering it was in quakes 1 to 4. And he never removed it, i guess there is not much to dispute.Azarael wrote:Well, unless he was responsible for intentionally adding bunny hopping, I dispute your comparison
Embracing the bugs thah enhance your gameplay is one of the keys of a good video game designer.
Re: Jumping Forward Bug
I can't remember that it worked like this on the original server. When i was new to the game, i first tried to get out of aoe fields of pve bosses as fast as possible by jumping. I was quickly told by guildmates to stop the crap, because it doesn't work. Only petpathing was an issue with bunnyhopping.
On the german servers i have never seen someone perma jumping around like an idiot in pvp, except for bugging the WL pet when it chases him.
When we would have catched someone jumping around like that, we probably would have thrown a /lol at him and killed the fool.

Re: Jumping Forward Bug
In this case I agree with Telenn.. I have played a melee for 3 out of my 5 years of war and always experienced this as a bug/exploit/whatever. But with the many ways to catch up to a player/low TTK in T4 I have never seen this as a real problem. Only now that I'm forced to be in T1 all the time, where mdps have no real utility/CC it's becoiming a problem. But then again - who am I to judge. I'm bunny hopping around like any other moron all the time, weather it's being intentionally or not...

Re: Jumping Forward Bug
Sigh,
Add this to lag differences and I've had melee attacking me from 20+ feet away on my screen. So this becomes another "part of the game so live with it bug". I guess I will be wearing out mouse button 5.

Re: Jumping Forward Bug
I think that the jumping forward "bug" / " exploit" is a sum up of several different factors at the current stage of the game. first is the lag/pink/fps problems each of us might facing. second is the melee range of skills that imo isnt fixed to their former state (using skills and damage/effect not aplied continues to exist) . and last -and thats not exploiting- jumping + changing direction gives u the advantage of choise , so u are that half of a sec faster than your oponent.
ps: i hate those who intentionaly using it -and you can tell who does it. its obvious- (big hate towards many AMs out there)
