PvE bugs in RoR and bringing RoR in-line with retail

Another day, another question from me. ;)

I rolled a choppa alt for scavenging, I decided he would do PvE exclusively. It's hard not to notice that many of the quests, PQs and npcs are bugged in some way (some small bugs, some big), especially ones where you have to interact with quest items or objects (eg quest items dont work so I couldnt fling mud at dwarven statues in greenskin Ch1). The NPCs also are stationary and don't move, there's wrong quest/npc text etc.

I am not criticizing, I am very grateful for the developers for bringing back my favourite MMO, but as I'm doing a degree in computer engineering (albeit only first year atm) I'm very curious about the technical reasons for this and what would be required in terms of coding, resources to bring WAR back to it's retail state, if it's even possible.

Spoiler:
My understanding is that they're waiting for client control to be able to make the NPCs alive, and the quest bugs get fixed on a regular basis.
Spoilered my wrongness. Basically it'll just take some time.

Nope, the NPCs are stationary because we prioritize the stuff we deem important, for example it is more important to have all abilities working before we will have a working system that allows NPCs to move around.

So too much to do, not enough hands and time to implement everything.

What is this client control?

Why doesn't the code already come with everything as was in retail WAR?

Well, once I finish my computer engineering degree in a few years I'll lodge an application to help you. :P

Because nobody handed us the code for the server. Game server was created from 0 by the people involved. We only have the game client.

Ah, I see. So you're missing the server code, and the server code works together with the game client code, so that's why a lot of things are off/buggy in the game.

Maybe you've thought of this before, but have you tried finding someone who used to work at Mythic and asking them for the server code? I'm sure a lot of them are still passionate about the game they created and might be interested in helping you out.

If you want the license owner to drop a Cease and Desist on RoR that is exactly what you should do.

Lets not start with hostilities.

But yes, the server is made ground up from sniffed packetdata, which also means not all packets are implemented as we may not know how all packets worked. With client control we can change any packet as we please and as such take away any guessing
