I don't really understand the argument "I/we had to do it so everyone does... you're just too lazy": 1) Nothing would ever change/get fixed - "We had to cope with months of melee abilities not working so let's not fix it, everyone's gotta experience it"; 2) I don't personally class not wanting to spend massive amounts of time farming pve mobs as "lazy". The game is supposed to be about pvp, not who's got the most free time or who can deal with boredom the longest.
And the above relates to point #4 of the OP as well- I wonder how many ppl have installed the game expecting to jump into pvp, realised how vital farming is unless you've got generous friends (which I'd guess is the case for a lot of ppl implying there isn't a problem), and just uninstalled.
As grobbok says, indirectly making gold worthless through rvr currency might be the best option... at least until gold's needed again for crafting etc, when sth else would have to be done.

Re: Gold reset
I finally got some gold on my chars now after farming for weeks in IC and will not be happy when they decide to reset. Besides that the exploiters will use same exploits again.
What could stop those ridiculous prices at AH is when we are able to buy Obliterator and Annihilator gear from the vendors by doing RvR. And maybe buy weapons from doing Scens and RvR kills. But that means higher levels and new abilities, so might be some time away.

you're damn right!!!!!
Re: Gold reset
Gold wipe yes pls, its far to easy to take advantage of a bug and make a ton of gold, i could be rich if i was greedy having benefited from medallion bug, im sure some ppl were and have tons of gold...
LOL, good and serves them right for hoarding gold in an ALPHA state game or taking advantage of a bug. If u are here to make gold or care so much about gold you are playing the wrong game.xitroxas wrote:Fixed.gloomwar wrote:AlistaireCrowley wrote: 4. What would stop the ridiculous prices at the ah is ppl being not so **** greedy, these players most likely alrdy have tons of gold and a gold reset would help, if these players whine about a reset and leave then good.wiscel wrote:I finally got some gold on my chars now after farming for weeks in IC and will not be happy when they decide to reset. And for the record the difference between the bis gear and vendor/gale runner is minimal it is pointless to waste your time farming for it unless you really really have to take advantage of every stat point you can to make up for sucking so bad at pvp.

Re: Gold reset
Exactly. I - and surely not me alone - don't give a single f*ck about the crybabies who gonna leave the game because they get punished for their exploiting. I can somehow feel for the people who didnt exploit but have tons of gold, but obviously they also take advantage of the exploit, because its obviously impossible to aquire even hundreds of Gold at this state of the game. Overall there shouldnt be more than lets say 5k gold in the Game, since its simply not possible to grind that much from low lvl mobs/quests that drop a few silvers to have such numbers we currently have in circulation. For me people who quit playing over a gold reset can get (and especially stay) lost..Morf wrote:Gold wipe yes pls, its far to easy to take advantage of a bug and make a ton of gold, i could be rich if i was greedy having benefited from medallion bug, im sure some ppl were and have tons of gold...

Re: Gold reset
If people are going to leave the game because of a partial gold reset then fair enough, but speak for yourself. The devs are trying to be fair to the whole community, lets not make that decision any harder by hypothesizing about the consequences of a decision they haven't even made yet (as far as I know). Besides if you're worried about losing gold then your concerns are based on your own self-interest, not on the future of the RoR community.

Re: Gold reset
Pretty much agreed when it comes to the difference between GR and Bloody, it's the jewels/cloak that create the biggest gap imo - ~50-60 point difference. Never actually added up the BiS compared to basic GR but added to the jewels/cloak it starts getting pretty big.Morf wrote:And for the record the difference between the bis gear and vendor/gale runner is minimal it is pointless to waste your time farming for it unless you really really have to take advantage of every stat point you can to make up for sucking so bad at pvp.
The other problem is some pieces are still quite expensive, BG helm/shoulders etc. Think a Dreadhelm was about 10g last time I looked, which doesn't seem like much nowadays to ppl who've been around for months but when you're just starting out you've still gotta get that through quests and then farming, rather than just being able to pvp from lvl 1 as it used to be.

Re: Gold reset
I do not feel any sympathy for the players who have supposedly amassed vast amounts of gold through legitimate farming, and there's a simple reason for that:
It's an alpha.
You chose to invest your time in farming massive amounts of gold in an alpha. Did you honestly believe that there would never be the possibility of gold exploits? Did you believe that for some reason, players would report immediately, and refuse to use, any gold exploits rather than selfishly crash the economy for their own gain?
Those players who decided to exploit gold are responsible for the current situation we're in, and if normalizing the economy means that people who were foolish enough to amass tons of gold legitimately (which I seriously doubt to be true) lose their gold, that is the price to pay, and if a gold wipe occurs, I will rest easy knowing that the actions of the exploiters FORCED it. What they've done has ALREADY wiped out the value of all your gold, because all the exploited gold has caused massive inflation. You've ALREADY LOST.
I will not allow the blame to be shifted onto the staff if the decision is made to take action to deal with a situation that was caused by exploiters. The blame is on them, and it's going to stay there.
