I really like the idea of a damage Warrior Priest, but it seems awfully obvious how that notion is received by others. It seems to be full-on healer or go home. I did hear Grace can be good but NO ONE seems to talk about Wrath.
Is it just a noob trap? Will there be buffs for paths (not just WP's) that move away from the archetype's intended function? I just wonder why we even have the other paths if they're bad and no one uses them.

a melee class that can be tanky enough to stand in the frontline, heal itself and it's group AND deal enough damage to put out useful pressure simply cannot be allowed to exist. of course the class is bollocks - common sense should illuminate this
roll an actual dps and stop pissing around, solo dps healers are the cancer of this game

You will rarely if ever be as effective playing a dps healer than just playing a dps. Most of those classes are built around doing both in combat, I don't know about warpriests.
People expect you to play your archetype because you can't walk down the street without stepping on a hundred dps along the way, but there aren't always as many healers available as you'd like. To see a warpriest playing dps is like hearing one go 'you know, I really hate winning and I think sigmars empire oughtta burn.'

Wrath Warrior Priest is fine. Message Halcite if you have questions about the build.

Hey hey! In a sense it is a noob trap. If you dont master the playstyle/min max the hell out of it/ have some buddies to roll with you will get stomped... every time. That said Halcite (wp) Rydiak (wp) Belladonna (dok) are exceptions from the normal riff raff playing the spec. Those players make it shine like any other class and showcase the power of the class very well. Dps wp/doks is what i call a tip of the spear class. Yes we are the point, the sharp bit, the deadly part. But with out a strong body (team comp) the spear will snap well before you can place it between the cracks.
The real question is... Do you want to play a class that requires twice the effort of a standard dps and get 5 times the hate mail?
If your answer is yes then give it a go and I and others can help you out along the way.
PS avoid advice from players who have not played the class to rr70+ with near bis gear. Msg any one of the players i mentioned for real answers

DPS wp gets +1000 points for style and rarely recieve hatemail unless you're not ressing or doing solo charging noob stuff like that.

Re: The hammer's just for show?
As others have already mentioned, Wrath priest will work in 90% of smallscale situations (the other 10% being against min-max premades, with proper comps and equally skilled players); it's fine for the majority of circumstances outside of competitive fights (where it is still somewhat lacking, imo).

Re: The hammer's just for show?
When in doubt, run two gear sets. I’ll have a healing and melee healing set with Talismans to boot. Once I hit the RR60+ mark. Until then, I’ll be healing.
