What kind of 3rd party software? Their setup for dpi and key assignment? Afaik there's nothing automated or bannable about that mouse, you don't even have to install their software to be able to use those 12 keyszarlemagne wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 8:38 amSo by you logic people have to buy a £70 mouse (Amazon cost at time of writing) that you hope will get them banned as it uses 3rd party software.kryss wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 8:18 am Frankly, I am amazed at all this fuss about NB, even more after reading about people using 3rd party stuff to replace it (is that bannable? I hope so).
I would be also curious to know how many "pro players" are and were using that stuff, but time and our next encounters will surely tell. Yes, I am old school, but I also prefer to "read" buffs and debuffs second after second and make my choices.
As for the rest, just buy a Razer Naga and learn to use those 12 buttons in combo with CTRL-SHIFT and bam, you got all the keys u need.
Great logic there

You can even promote any macro software as a video playerzarlemagne wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 8:38 am

sorry, but looks like devs dont like it. Most healthy players like the changes as you can seevanbuinen77 wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 10:07 pm Terrible patch to remove NB.
I lost fingers in Iraq, and NB was the only way to play comfortably.
Re: Patch Notes 28/05/2021
I think this is a really bad update. Blocking NB because 5-10% of the population asking for it?? Well.. I can certainly play WAR without NB. However I really enjoyed this game playing with my son - he cant play this game without NB. I really dont see the problem in this. However you probably wont miss a few casual players so who cares... and why are you leaving Plan B still ? Makes no sense. Why leave it ingame for 6 years and cripple it over night....

Re: Patch Notes 28/05/2021
You don't need a mouse with 12 buttons any normal mouse already has M3-M5 times 4 when considering ctrl, shift and alt modifiers and if you really want to get the most of them you can even have double/triple modifiers, but I never got used to that outside some non combat abilities.
Or do it the opposite way if your mouse has reprogrammable keys and bind ctrl, shift and alt to the mouse, which for some reason I just thought of now and I'm wondering why i didn't do it 5 years ago, because that sounds way easier.

Nerfed Buttons
Nerfed Buttons has been blocked.
The Plan B addon for Sword Masters & Black Orcs will still function.
We have never really liked the idea of an addon automating conditional checks for players. Now it is blocked.
I want to drop my feedback on NB issue as well. I think it is a very bad move for the health and longevity of the game, for 3 reasons.
1. It is bad because it makes playing on alts inconvenient. RoR is a very dated game, and it has (especially for some characters) way too many buttons to keep pressing in very short window rotations. NB allowed people to sequence skills of their alts, and just be able to start play on them on the fly. Now people wont be bothered by memorizing and developing motor reflex for rotations for new button layouts for an alt they play just for fun or looks of it. This will have a massive impact on T2/3 population. I have always been on the opinion that, the day SCs stop popping frequent enough it will be the death of RoR. We already saw how much impact the matchmaking issues had on server activity recently. People who would be otherwise online, did not want to wait around in the hopes of an SC pop in the next 2 hours, and activity spiraled downwards from there.
2. Another issue class dependency on sequencers. IBs/BGs will vanish and there will be an influx of Kotbs/Chosen and Slayer/Choppas. Classes that do not require as much buttons, awareness will thrive and classes that require reading multiple debuff/buff timers to be effective will vanish.
3. Macro keyboards/mouses. Banning NB while allowing use of tools like Razor Naga is going to create a major gap in accessibility. Like I said RoR is very dated and it has way too many buttons that needs to be pressed in short rotations. People who play with nothing but their regular keyboard and mouse will be at a massive disadvantage in the absence of sequencers. If NB is gone for good, I think it would be best to somehow prevent 3rd party macro hardware/software as well. If it is allowed to use 3rd party hardware/software then sequencers needs to be allowed again.

Re: Patch Notes 28/05/2021
NB cannot be replaced by that Razer Naga some of you are claiming on this thread or any other hardware of that kind (the other way around yes till now). NB allowed to set conditions (e.g. "Enable skill X when behind your enemy" or "Enable skill Y when ailing/cursed/blessed" or "Set a cooldown of Z seconds to effect of skill X and fire another skill") so basically those devices are up for setting macros. Macros are allowed ingame as far as I know, you don't need to buy anything on extra hardware. Please get your facts straight, this is a good change imho.
Re: Patch Notes 28/05/2021
likely still not enough for some classes. my bg uses 1 - 5, q, e, z, v, f, g, m3, m4, m5 all with alt & shift for a total of 42 keys. completely impossible for anyone with disabilities, arthritis or even bad carpal tunnel. a simple cast sequencer with no conditionals could get that down to a much more manageable number, so i don't think ppl should be banned for using thatKeula wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 9:14 am You don't need a mouse with 12 buttons any normal mouse already has M3-M5 times 4 when considering ctrl, shift and alt modifiers and if you really want to get the most of them you can even have double/triple modifiers, but I never got used to that outside some non combat abilities.
