If we are talking strictly city, WBs tend to take only 1 magus, 2 in a best case scenario. To get into WBs, well unfortunately you're going to have to take the time to make a name for yourself, though there are certainly times you will get lucky and get added in as a replacement/filler.
As for usefulness in city, depends on your skill level but even in vaquisher you can potentially out dps or at least give high end sorcs a run for their money in dbs and damage. It's all about pre layering your damage. Having your aoe dots, mist, agonizing torrent, moral 2 rolling winds and then using firestorm/demonic lash will pump out respectable aoe burst. As for pet dying due to aoe, most cases this is untrue depending on your placement. The flamer pet is your best friend in city as you keep your pet buffs quite a distance away from your pet, allowing you to move with the battle and place it away from the death ball. Not to mention your utility in being able to aoe stagger the backline healers(be careful with timing on this as not to give immunity when single target train is on them), aoe interrupt and withered soul tactic on lords which can be invaluable.
As for keep defence etc. if you pug mostly and or solo, 9 times out of ten you'll be more successful with a magus over a Sorc. Not only can you pump out as much single target burst and aoe funneling (arguably, and albeit with more setup) as sorc, your survivability is worlds better in that you don't kill yourself, are less squishy and have a great wounds buff and the ever so reliable stagger bomb for oh **** moments.
Honestly though, if you love the class, there is a lot of potential to be found so just hang in there and disregard a lot of ignorant comments about the class. And remember, full vanquisher and blood lord staff is when things really start taking off for Magus.

Damage wise? Its super weak. Rift does not do damage and Firestorm does very little damage by itself. Magus is all about layering damage effects to get good damage.Przepraszam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:33 ami wouldn't call it weak...
That said if you went a weird ass build like RoR.builders - Magus it would be more of a wombo combo if you set up your dots, misted, rifted onto mist and then firestormed I guess it could be a decent combo.
That all said Rift is still a good setup ability, but you lose so much damage from going rift vs mist.

Hey im fairly new to Magus, and looking for a good build to aim for with havoc and changing. Currently in the level 20s range, but something to build towards would be nice! Thanks
Re: [Magus] Useless in end game content?
Havoc/changing is pretty weird, your damage is split between aoe and at and you lose aegis of orange fire and demonic contract. To begin with, decide whether you want AoE or ST build.
RoR doesnt deserve being taken seriously.
