How does crit works?

Hello!
How does crit works?
From what i can understand, your % in reduction in being critically hit, will affect the crit chance of your opponent, so you should have a % below 0 to virtually "debuff" your opponents crit chance against you, is that correct?
How much reduction in being critically hit should i have as a tank??

Thanks

You can read the wiki part about initiative and chance to be critically hit.

With a tank, you need about 300 initiative and to have 25-30% reducing chance to be critically hit. With that you should be safe.

Or you can go 0%chance to be critted, 800ish toughness, 300ini and max block/disrupt - they can't crit you if they can't hit you ;)

This is the amount you should see when you type the following command, targeting your character :

Code: Select all

.getstats

I was wondering if it's better to go hard on ff with renown points or try some other way. Thanks for you answer

Class gear type makes all the difference in terms of how easy it is to stack stats. But no matter what get 2 FS.

all that

and absorb nullify crit dmg. Armor or resistance wont stack with absorb but toughness does.

try different builds...because the thing is....there is no right answer because sometimes you need that -28 crit and sometimes you dont, sometimes - 0 crit is enough....how you move and react is key thing: do you prefer frontlines, how lightly you swap guard, what is your morale reg, what jewels or tactics you like to use etc.....your party/wb benefit from synergy: usually there is no reason to run with 8 copies of that same tank.

This is not entirely true, let me correct a bit :

The mitigation sequence is as follow :

Toughness > Absorb > Dmg multipliers (crits and dmg reduction in %) > Armor / Magic resist > Guard

Toughness and absorb are efficient by reducing the damage part wich will crit, but will not completely avoid critical hits unless you absorb the whole damage (where the remaining damage is zero, thus cannot crit), but they cut off damage by a fixed amount (the main stat contribution to damage is equally neutered by same amount of toughness), while armor and resistances will cut remaining damage by a percentage.
Then the effective damage is applied to you, or split in half and applied (without further mitigation) to you and your guard.

Absorb is very efficient against high crit% and high crit damage, like sorcerers, since you will effectively multiply the absorbed amount of damage by the %crit damage (ie. with a 200% crit damage, your effective absorb value is doubled against all critical hits).

For example, absorbing 250 over an initial 500 damage hit, wich would result in a 1000 after x2 crit, only 250 can now crit for a total of 500 damage.
You absorbed an effective 500 damage on this critical hit.
