non-tank that doesn't suck in RVR?

Maybe I'm not wording my question clearly. People aren't out questing..or apparently farming for anything...so..I'm assumign the only time you ever run into someone 'solo' is if they're also out 'solo' looking to gank someone and I assume that's rare?

Solo roamers look for 1v1 or 1vx fights. Not many do it outside of stealth classes and dps AM/Sham, but there's a small number of regular players that are out fairly often.

It’s also finding players who get lost, left behind by groups, players that dont pay attention, getting supply runners. Finding people isn’t really an issue, it’s avoiding large groups and warbands.

I just posted a video today of a warband chasing me to wc to turn around and get them wiped.. so yea that's also great time.

When you say 'solo roaming' you dont actually mean running around the map solo? I'm new to game but I woudln't think you'd actually run into anyone that you could fight 1v1 "solo" or does "solo" simply mean you're joining sceanrio or rvr as a solo person without apremade?

Solo means 1v1 or 1vX. You can even look up people's solo kills on the killboard.

Solo roam means you will get ganked 9/10 times but will get that great small scale experience 10% of the time. Most tanks do well in 1v1 because they are tanky. This game favors mitigation over damage slightly so chipping down a soft target with moderate damage can be preferable. Especially, since the 12+ mans will chase you to the end of the map just for one single kill. Any complaints about hard to kill solo players can go straight to PO box of the blood thirsty zergers, first.

They run solo mainly looking for duels rather than farming or questing.

When it comes to farming, it’s worth noting that if you manage to get some kills while soloing, you'll earn significantly more renown points compared to being in a group.

However, the primary (and perhaps only) reason for playing solo is simply that they enjoy ganking people alone.

how on earth are you ever going to find someone solo to kill? Is there even a reason for a player at level 40 to be out on the world map alone? It's not like they're farming stuff right

Why would someone be solo? Mostly people go solo when running boxes from battle objectives. You will get the majority of your 1v1 fights doing BOs. You need to pick low population maps or you'll just be run over by WBs. I've had lots of 1v1 fights.

The trouble is, 80% of the time you will get ganked by 2+ players. Maybe 20% of the time you get a good 1v1 fight? Also you will get ganked by high RR witch elves (or WH). Or ambushed. Rarely will anything be "fair".

What kind of RVR are we talking about? If you're talking about lake RVR, where each side of ranged DPS and healer just farm the melee DPS and tanks, melee sucks, and that includes tanks. The only kills you will get are from your WB and you get farmed.

In back and forth lake rvr, I'd rather be a ranged DPS or healer, and farm the melee.

And in more serious rvr, everyone has a role.

It's hard to be any melee, including tanks, when 5+ guys are focusing you. If the WB actually wants to kill the other WB and not just farm melee, white lion can be good. Marauders seem low risk when they pull you into their WB. Witch hunters can always pick off stragglers.

Seems like anything not a tank everyone says just is turrible outside of these small engagement situations, but 90% of game (granted Im very low level ) seems to be large group combat.

Are you asking what class is a good solo class or what class is good at large scale rvr?

Every class has a role in large scale rvr, sieges etc. As a tank you certainly have a role, but you get killed and beaten up a lot more than anyone else.

I would just go with a class concept that you like , don't worry about it being effective, and you can make it work.
