[WH]: Is WH a good class now after the balance changes?

Well, I haven't been playing the game for at least 2 years now - I am considering returning, and I had levelled up a WH up to 40 2 years ago just before I stopped playing. I couldn't follow all the balance changes in the game—specifically, the changes WH received during my absence. So, what I wonder is if, after the changes it received, WH is now a good choice for solo roaming and small-scale fights. Before I left, all I could do after reaching T4 was to search for AFKers in keeps and around war camps. It was painful to engage in any 1vs1 because of the gear gap. So, I wonder if giving it another try with WH is a good idea. Thanks for your replies and ideas in advance.

P.S.: And yes, having bloster buff felt good before I hit 40, but then after that, it felt like I was fighting with a paper pistol and sword :)

5 Vanq + 2 Sentinel(head+ring) + 3 Beastlord(back+ring+pocket) + Bloodlord sword + Subjugator pistol + 2 genesis warrior + all tali on str + 80str potion or 60str 50melee power liniment. With such gear you will be OK.

Beastlord set - 5 bosses in world + some kills(just run in open wb), from 32 lvl.
Redeye set - 3 full runs of gunbad, from 32 lvl.
Sentinel set - 4 full runs of crypts, 40 lvl.
Bloodlord sword - 1 full run of bastion stairs(set - 4 full runs). 40 lvl.

Optional - ValeWalker set - 4 full runs of hunters vale. 40 lvl.
Very optional - Onslought - 22PQ with luck 2 full runs. 40 lvl.

Vanq set - from 50rr gold bags from zone locks will give random pieces(gloves+boots can buy on auction), just make some cotribution in all open zones and from time to time get mails with bags(50 genesis crests for subjugator + jewelry).

For fresh 40 - Subjugator weapons + 2 warrior genesis + beastlord + redeye(conq better) + all str tali.

WH need best gear as possible, so 1st priority is complete all pve.

byt wh and witch still lack proper aoe spam (thx to 24aoe) as ather clases have to have space in wb, u can only play as leech in wb or be wb leader.
best u can do is stealth - aoe armor debuff , vanish - aoe armor debuff (u need spam that button while in stealth after use vanish)
or play solo/duo , try gank ppl who plays na time zone or be lucky and someone is behind blob.
"give wh and witch propper aoe like evrywone has it!"

The current state of WH is disastrous. I dont advise anyone to start a new WH. It is pure pain to get to 80 and life is not getting much better there. For the past 12 months WH was the target of major nerfs together with a few other melee classes, while other classes got a slap on the fingers at best.

Even after the healer patch healers feel unkillable. Some seem even stronger now. Other solo specs are also way stronger and there is no point in engaging them.

The question to the DEFs is, will there be any buffs to WH so we are very useful in WB / Blob gameplay?
Or will we get buffs to solo play so we can do something outside of beeing useless in a WB?
Can we get both like it seems possible for AM/Shammy?
Or can we basically quit at this poit since our class is and will stay completely obsolete?

Many Guilds dont want WHs. Nearly everyone in my WH guild quit (after constant nerfing). You can join a pub WB and try to use dragon gun every 10s as your only aoe (and thats your gameplay there). If you go to the melee frontlines you die in 5s (too bad that most of our accusations are built there). The class is a liability in a warband other classes are staright up better by a huge margin.

In solo you can wait for some of the increasingly fewer classes you can kill to walk by, but usually the are not doing that. At this point you only see many of those classes with way stronger solo capabilities walk by and they dont need to be scared because you cant beat them.

im rr82 on mine. You can do alright attacking squishies that are not supported: sorcs, squiggies, squishy melee you can beat and kill fast. You can kill low rr people as well.

I think witch hunter suffers a lot as soon as other variables are taken into play. Any kind of secondary damage source will basically kill you incredibly fast because of how squish you are.

Also if you cant burst something you will lose. So defence specs like regen welf, mara, any tank tbh, regen magus, or healers will a struggle or someone to avoid totally. Healers cant be killed solo in this game /shrug

It's tough being solo in the current iteration of AoR which favours the 2-2-2 dynamic so heavily. But you can do well on it if you learn to accept your limitations and pick off the stragglers in the herd.

You should play what you like, but most of what the others have said is correct. WH is obviously good to play solo because you can stealth and pick your fights (at least until you get blind-sided by 24 people acting like they've never seen an enemy in the rvr zone before you). Outside of the stealth dynamic it's one of the weakest classes and the majority of classes at the moment are a few grades above the WH, say for the lack of self-sufficiency of Sorc/BW. WH's are still fun to play but group up in a gank squad. Also realize DPS has yet to receive its modern ability overhaul like the other archetypes. Tanks had theirs over a year ago and healers just got one this week.

WH is fine in 1v1, 1v2, assassinating stragglers and running away etc, provided there is not a competent healer around. Most people are running around with group specs and they're easy pickings for any decent WH as they simply have no chance of winning a 1v1 unless they spec into solo specs themselves. From conqueror gear level onwards you can beat most players (who exclusively zerg and simply do not really know what they're doing) quite easily. Even most RR80+ players just panic and have little idea of what to do when caught alone, and wh/we is most capable of catching people in those situations. The most common Destro solo class, Squig Herder, is basically a free kill for you as well, unless they use triple pot and outplay you, which basically none of them seem capable of.
It's also serviceable in scenarios though not optimal. Any other circumstance should be avoided, though you can still somewhat contribute to larger scale rvr by picking off people who fall behind or who get out of position.
Play to your strengths and you can have fun and get tons of renown from solo kills.
