Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
Thank you for your advice. For now, it’s working, but if the issue happens again with the next update, I’ll try Heroic Launcher or Bottles (which I did not know, by the way).

I'm curious how you got the HD4600 (I have same) to work with the Lutris Install Script - the DXVK stuff just craps out and won't work with the 4600.MisterViktor wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 7:46 am

yo should use either older version of DXVK (pre 1.10.3) with that IGP or disable DXVK.
hasswell IGP vulkan support is pretty horrible indeed

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
Hey, thanks for answer. I just never had the chance to intervene in the install when running the Lutris script - it just stopped after the Vulkan support error. I did get the game to run in Bottles just fine - and am getting ready to see how PlayOnLinux install goes. Bottles is great but can be temperamental in a "black box" sort of way. I think POL might give me more control over the install. Pretty much, fonts, dotnet 48 from what I can see and then opengl setup.
POL has went down hill since I last used it - I went with WineGui https://gitlab.melroy.org/melroy/winegui instead - got the game up and running no muss no fuss.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
you don't need any dotnet since the new launcher doesn't require it.
PlayOnLinux is dead indeed.
Lutris, Bottles and Heroic Launcher are the main thigs these days i guess.
Actually the script is somewhat pointless as you don't really need anything extra installed these days. It just makes things easier for people who don't know how to manually create a prefix and install it from installer.
Glad you got the game running.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
For what it is worth - I am reinstalling after updating to Wine 10 Stable and removing a bunch of old wine related utilities. Wine-GUI is still my choice and I will be using it again to install ROR (thank goodness already downloaded install files!).
I will have wine-mono/fonts but I will pass on any additional dot-net stuff as that appears to no longer be required.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
Putting this here in case anyone runs into the same issue I had. When I loaded in, I had all sounds, but no spell effects and no spell sounds. All other sound was working. This ended up being the 'custom' graphics settings, and once I set it to something else, the sound and effects came right back. Not sure if this is a default of the installer, but hopefully I can save someone some heartache.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
I went from an AMD 6700 GPU to the AMD 9070xt GPU and now I max out at 10 FPS if that. I'm using Bazzite OS, which should have automatically included all my needed driver as I'm running all my other games just fine. My warhammer log shows
'gfx1201' is not a recognized processor for this target (ignoring processor)
'gfx1201' is not a recognized processor for this target (ignoring processor)
amd: LLVM doesn't support gfx1201, bailing out...
glx: failed to create dri3 screen
failed to load driver: radeonsi
I don't really know where to go from here since my drivers should be alright. Anyone know what would help?
Edit: 9070xt's RDNA4 doesn't seem to be supported by Vulkan which may be causing this issue? I'm not really good at computer stuff so I could easily be wrong.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
if you have up to date lutris and you are also using steam with proton. then maybe try switching to proton experimental runner in lutris for warhammer. could be that the default wine-ge that lutris uses has just older vulkan loader stuff that doesnt support your gpu just yet.
edit: or maybe you are missing 32bit radv driver? as RoR is 32bit. Maybe other games you tried are all 64bit.

Re: [Linux] How To Install Return of Reckoning
I found the issue was my OS runs on mostly preinstalled flatpacks and hasn't pushed the updated flatpacks with Mesa 25. Mesa 24 doesn't have driver support for the 9070xt and Vulkan. Even though Mesa 25 was on my OS letting me use other things just fine, any flat pack I used with Vulkan was trying to run off integrated graphics. My fix is to use BuddyBox Arch OS, then run Lutris and Warhammer with it using Mesa 25 drivers.xpander wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 10:23 am if you have up to date lutris and you are also using steam with proton. then maybe try switching to proton experimental runner in lutris for warhammer. could be that the default wine-ge that lutris uses has just older vulkan loader stuff that doesnt support your gpu just yet.

I tried running with proton experimental runner, but the warhammer launcher won't open the client. If I run into any issues with my buddybox solution, I might dig deeper into running with proton experimental.
