RoR Performance - Message from Eden (LNM)

Hi
I'm sincerely thinking of stopping ROR at the end of the season (June 2025)
The quality of the server is deteriorating from day to day, patch to patch. It's becoming impossible to play properly in structure and all the benefit of the structural code overhaul seems to be wiped out.
I'm sounding the alarm for a game I love, but it's becoming impossible to motivate myself to lead my troops.
I hope you'll find a solution.

The problem with the “inability to cast skills” is that it's apparently spreading to several game modes now, even when there isn't necessarily a huge mass of players.
At first, it was mainly in LOTD, then in fortress attacks/defenses, then keep attacks/defenses. Today, even in open play, there are sometimes skills that don't go off at all, or potions that can't be taken. This problem has been getting worse for a few months now.

Server stability has been a joke since at least when I came back to RoR a couple of months ago yeah, I'm more surprised these days when we do a keep siege or fort and the server *doesn't* lag out for the entire thing. It makes underdog keep and fort defences pretty much impossible 90% of the time too, since the entire server lags out for 10-20 seconds then suddenly everyone is just dead when the server catches up lol

Also losing LNM would be terrible for the server so hopefully this doesn't just get ignored, but I'd not hold out hope

Absolutely, we don't want to be losing LNM, that would be a massive blow. Is the lag problem, the server itself, or the coding? I'm sure it seemed quite good a while back, and then more tinkering with bits of the game has happened and its now worse than ever

Too many new calculations going on, draining the server CPU slowly. That's all unfortunately.

Not sure it is that the reason or if that is connected to the problem at all but the first lag problems begins when the avoidance formula was changed so you negate max only half of enemy avoidance stats. Before that i rarely had any lag even at mass fights at lotd. Now mass fights are abit unplayable and zerg always wins
Mostly harmless

rather feels like a bug, probably on the devs list already.

A bug that is not being tackled by devs and growing for months? You are kidding right?

You're right, perhaps the devs are a bunch of mean-spirited villains who built a comically large lever labelled "LAG" and are grouped around it cackling as they pull it further and further towards "MAXIMUM" each day.

Or maybe they're already working on it and it's actually quite a hard problem to solve, especially for a bunch of people who have jobs to work and lives to live.

Who can say?

That skill lag issue usually appear when big mass of players in spot. But it dont see ot often from my side, wich is kinda weird coz i was lagging for years. Maybe its time to finaly rework rvr so warband will spread equally on map instead one big blobing? Even wow start act like slideshow when its 300on300, and ror surprisefully ok with that. Maybe we can go from wb to 6man format, will drop concentration of players in 1 spot significantly and allow small guilds and groups to breath in rvr. Theres like bilion 6man+ guild that would benefit from it.
