Against range it does pretty poorly but if you manage to get the jump on them you can just one shot them. As you know it really depends on where the fight occurs and other factors but in general a good kiter will definitely give asw a hard time.Pahakukka wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 3:46 pmI think some other Asw enjoyer told me that its a beast against things like marauder and WE, well generally any pure mdps. Since it deals heavy frontloaded dmg in melee, has some uncoditional cc and can also kite away at first to drop guys HP before actually getting hit back.Stinksuit wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 3:34 pmThanks! I actually found asw to be quite good in dealing with WEs. I guess asw in a way is a good counter to we.sharpblader wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 2:49 pmNice fights as usual! Some of the WEs in the video can be hard to defeat. So ggSpoiler:![]()

How does it do against rdps? I would imagine it is a bit prone to be kited? Atleast thats what i do with magus.

Maybe one day :DAvanos wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 4:39 pm Nice Vid - Hopefully I will catch you in the lakes one day and reclaim the honor of my fellow WEs
I am likely going to play quite abit of my zealot now, once I get my lv runs out the way for the guys I want to have the set / cloak.
Then again I think your fellow WEs have already killed me plenty enough as it is xD

I can get 5k armor now aswell if I don't use bl weapon.Farrul wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 5:38 pmASW used to 5k armor, Broadhead arrow available in asssult stance stacking 3 x. A big increase of Auto attack damage in assault stance( 60-70% iirc). I also believe crosscut is still bugged (the spirit dmg) but don't quote me on that one, i may be forgeting a few nerfs in the long series of nerfs to ASW.Stinksuit wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 2:38 pmI never got to play the old version of asw so I wouldn't know but there are definitely things I wish would work a bit different for this current asw. I'm hoping it gets some good changes in the pve patch tho :)
I never understood why devs nerfed an underdog spec when everyone was playing Scout/festering anyways. Hopefully yes, devs will undo some of the nerfs or improve it in the upcoming dps patches, but I wouldn't count on anything.
Imo the ranged abilities shouldn't be on the assault stance. Even having spiral and glass arrow available seems a bit odd to me but who knows, maybe in the future we get more melee abilities and spiral/glass are purely tied to ranged stances. :)

Re: ASW vs WE fights
Most of the options across classes to solo were nerfed to the ground (both sides). On Destro, all we see is WHx2, AM, and the occasional WL. Now with a little Engi sprinkled in and 2HWP until they get kited a few times.Stinksuit wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 1:39 pmIn theory regen we shouldn't lose to anyone in a 1v1.Farrul wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 1:26 pm Entertaining, but Regen/def WE has no business losing to ASW in a duel lol
But it is true, skill-> class with a few exceptions.
Then again pretty much every class with regen spec is usually on the winning side when it comes to duels against non regen specs (or classes that don't have self sustain).
I've had alot of fun with asw but I kinda wish there were other classes to fight other than magus and regen we's xD
I always leave alone (or try to) the occasional Slayer (shout out to Wildheart and Khu), Logicz (BW), and the very rare ASW.
There are a few heal-over-time SMs that I ignore since they Tali, Lini, and RR +heal-over-time. Not waiting for their insane M3 =p
On Destro we have WE, Marauders, Magus (all over the place), SHA, rSH (insta die to WH/WL), and the occasional Chosen.
I am looking forward to the patch after the DPS balance patch where the Devs bring back unique abilities to classes (in their roadmap somewhere).

Would see more IBs if the classic GnM hadn't been deleted from the game by devs.

I think the tank and healer patch being the ones that are done and dps patch is yet to come also affects solo meta very heavily.
I remember when tank patch was done and there seemed to be alot of tanks solo roaming (especially snb ones) and then healer patch came and it was alot of healers.
Ofcourse its likely due to people wanting to test new stuff but also (atleast to me) both tanks and healers seemed a bit overtuned after the patches compared to classes that didn't get their patch yet.
Once the dps patch comes I'm sure we'll have plenty of dps solo roaming (hopefully in actual dps spec and not just regen) :D but time will show us how the meta will change. I'm hoping it gets a bit better than what it currently is.

Re: ASW vs WE fights
It is clear that in many battles WE could have simply left the battle, but decided to continue, despite the unfavorable conditions at the moment. Not every battle has to be a victoryFarrul wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 1:26 pm Entertaining, but Regen/def WE has no business losing to ASW in a duel lol

For me personally, this video is indicative of how crooked the current system of using abilities is in relation to running on strafes and jumping. It is not normal when an ability that should work from behind does not work due to the use of sideways movements. Also, interrupting a cast by jumping is from the same series.
Re: ASW vs WE fights
Positional hits in this game are sadly what it is. Often times caused by ping and people playing from different parts of the world. If we use let's say WE throw dagger as example, if the SW is strafing facing left, the WE would have to be on the right side of the SW in order to get the slow out. This is ofcourse not fool proof since the SW could just turn while the dagger is mid flight..vipevox wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 2:46 pmIt is clear that in many battles WE could have simply left the battle, but decided to continue, despite the unfavorable conditions at the moment. Afaik the interrupts with jump doesnt work anymore but yeah I do remember the frustration while playing mara and your pull being rendered useless by simply jumping xD

Re: ASW vs WE fights
The same example with daggers and slowdown can be easily fixed by expanding the area of effect not only to the back but also to the sides, as it works with backstabs and armor penetration. They work from the side too. Cast interruption by jumping still works otherwise half the server wouldn't be jumping in RVR)Stinksuit wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 3:43 pmPositional hits in this game are sadly what it is. Do you have examples of abilities that get interrupted by jumping? I havent personally noticed anything getting cancelled because of jumping.
I cant speak for half the server but for me jumping helps with kiting and certain keybinds are easier for me to press when I'm jumping.
