good day! Making my return to warhammer after 6 or so years and I’m a tad lost on what to do.
My main character I played way back was a WP. Mainly solo back then. And I still enjoy the solo thing but really want to jump into the rvr pvp aspect a lot more this time.
My question is. My main character is lvl 29 with a renown of 9. I don’t feel I would be very beneficial jumping into rvr and all with that low of renown and horrible gear. Would it be better to just reroll a new character and start over? Or jump into rvr and just do what I can? I’m not the best of players regardless, but don’t want to give my character a bad rep by not being very beneficial atm.
Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Nah, no need for reroll. Jump into a pug warband and you'll get renown ranks very quickly and catch up with your career rank.

Re: Returning player and clueless
id reroll. they introduce alot of nice carebear things in T1, its a good idea to revisit it. also pvp there is pretty enjoyable, especially as WP. if dont reroll you will have to suffer in dull stupid orvr as a hopeless pug. yes, you will get rr pretty quick till 40, but then it change and you will have to go pve which is lacking main gear for orvr - book heal (great set is onslaught but it comes from ch22 which is run by big guilds on schedule and pre sign ups).
could make sense to keep it as cr40, but cr29 is nothing.
if you focus on solo pve dont forget to use -xp scrolls

Top of the morning to ya,
Be advised that you'd benefit more from starting over due to the following:
Global Cooldown Adjustment occured.
Warrior Priest has been adjusted a few times since your last login.
Your renown level and career level has a disparity.
I can keep going but would argue those three main points to advise you to start over.
Have you thought about a guild?

Re: Returning player and clueless
It's actually better to not reroll.
rr10 is like 10k renown total. rr30 is close to 300k. Thus you are 300k renown behind your characters rank.
It would be quicker to just pug band (in garbage gear) and catch up than to reroll.
You can get up to mayhem armor (no rr requirement) within a few hours of pq farming (youd have to do that on new char anyways). Sell green drops to get talismans for mayhem armor.
You're basically 1000-1500 war crests behind where an average lvl30 would be. You'd need to earn those 1500 whether you rolled a new char or played your current, rerolling doesnt help.

Re: Returning player and clueless
Rerolling helps because of how the bolster works. The closer your RR and gear are to your current level, the more powerful your bolster is. Because your RR (and presumably gear) is so weak relative to your character level AND you don't have the game knowledge to adequately remedy that situation as a new player, it's smarter to reroll and build from scratch. It's easier (and more fun) to get RR and crests vs people who are close to your level and you have a fighting chance against.
Re: Returning player and clueless
The reason to reroll is because the game is more fun from 1-39 than it is at 40, especially if you are new and/or very casual. You only got to 29 the first time around. You'll have a much better experience in T1-3 scenarios because gear is essentially evened out, T4 is going to suck regardless, and you'll get to replay T1 which is lots of fun.
If you choose to keep playing, don't worry about your renown rank. Everyone says to gear in PvE anyway to save crests (as if that matters since you're never getting close to BiS gear where you'll need them) and gear >>>>>> rr. A cr40/rr0 in LV gear is going to be much better than a cr40/rr50 in conqueror. Not to mention, you'll get rr very quickly and soon be within 10 rr of the person who slogged through T4 RvR on an undergeared character.
