Really good point by Coma. It will matter what you're playing. You also may want to consider building tank on SM until you get the pieces you want for your offensive set. It all kinda depends on your success rate and what you're doing

I ran 4 mercenary and 2 ruin (parry/block) when i leveld my BO to be a bit more tanky as SnB offtank/dps. Planning on a similar setup for my upcoming SM.

Regarding Ruin, get 2-3 friends who already have Ruin and you will be full, or close to full, Ruin in 1 hour.

it's 500 armor vs 5% crit / 1 khaine trait point

I also wanted to follow that route,the 500 armor is still good but I didnt like the stats on ruin pieces

I've also never offtanked PvE before. What sort of gear do I need for beastlord as an offtank SM?

if someone can answer this, I would also be interested. I want to get some BL, but not sure I can do that as I've never done it and have no idea what's going on in there.

aye, 3+2. Feelt to much of a liability in full merc. I used the ruin pieces giving 2% block and parry to add some mitigation to guard damage plus the armor. Will have change some things for the SM as I am going 2hander so probably be skipping the block piece.

I have maintanked all BL on BO with a dominator/merc mix. All Str talis bar one Ini. Full parry and dodge disrupt from renown + one rank of FS, i.e. could not bother to respec for pve just put on a shield and changed som tactics.

Best advice I can give for gear is to look at the top renown SMs to get an idea of what is good. Usually good to look at multiple so you remove outlier baddies like Karisanna /s
