Why not different zones having different RvR mechanics? And why not have them be randomly determined once a zone opens up and is again available to be flipped?

RvR needs to be compelling and have a much greater risk vs reward mechanism to promote realm-pride, encourage organised WBs and 6mans to cooperate, and to alleviate the monotony of 'capture flag and keep rinse repeat'.

Many are refeering to xrealming being worse or better in one or another system. This is speculative at best and typically the player base is very hard to predict. Previous changes has show this I think.

Personally I think xrealming will remain influential as long as we are in a capped state where the majority have time to max out toons in both realms.

Keep claiming and guilds may play a role in reducing xrealming as well imo.
A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7

There are pros and cons, I would guess on each setup, maybe start with the old ways and then evalute after some months and move on to next.

In fact i mostly prefer carriers, cos this system gives more options and freedom for players.
Wanna cooperate in wb?- ok, still can do it. Wanna fight in small scale group- take a ram, push carriers, and you still usable for your faction.
And bug & lags ? -THEY WILL BE FOREVER, even in chess game :)
So please multiple ways of playing, dont make some kind "ONE AND ONLY ONE PROPER WAY OF RVR".

The Carrier system don't really give any good options for WB's. It was pretty much only used to attack or defend keeps. So wb oriented guilds had nothing to do while waiting for cariers to tick in resources. So what happened was that all those guilds scaled down to 12 or 6 mans wich is what those people didn't nescesary wanna play in the first place. The RC system doesn't really support guilds or player that wants to play larger scale RVR. So no it doesn't give more freedom to players.

@roadkillrobin,
I think i was misunderstood.
Im writing about all type of players, but You write about warbands. If we look on RoR only as game for warbands, yes, You are completly right. But we have solos , premade partys, half partys, ETC.
So, system carriers dont forces all to be in WB-that is the freedom, imao.
I understand, that we cant prefer interests of indvidual players before warbands, but must be place for all in RoR. I belive, that guild warbands in any system, still will do what they do now - killin a pugs/zerg. Its ok for me, but imao, it must be place to other style then Destro train vs Order train.

BTW. sorry for bad english, still working on that.:)

Three (!!!!) players could lock a zone! (In the middle of the night when as good as no one was playing the game, of course.)

Still that tells everything about it...!

I voted for the WAR: Multiple zones resource carriers that rank keeps (patch 1.4.0 – 1.4.8). I always loved to **** up incoming locks by capping a bo and sending carriers to reinforce the keepdoors. I think it this was a good way to split up the zerg. Some had to stay at keep and others had to protect the bo's.

I never liked the WAR: Multiple zones victory points locks from doing PVE, SC and BOs/keeps (patch 1.0 - 1.2) system. It never was clear if a zone would lock, even though you had all keep/bo.

The problem with the RC system is thats no longer much advantage of making a wb. Its much more efficiant to spread out your forces. Wich made guilds and players that liked playing large scale leave the game and those left formed smaller groups. Its a system that neglect that playstyle almoast completly. The small scale players still had a purpose in the older formats. But large scale players have almoast nothing to do in the RC one.
