I think about running that build, but I am not sure if that wouldnt be better:
http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=sm; ... 3:;0:0:0:0:
Or something more offensive:
http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=sm; ... 0:;0:0:0:0:
The first one would be my preference, but I would like to hear the oppinion of some seasoned SM.
Swordmaster.... Build.

Re: Swordmaster.... Build.
Go WW, not ED.
waronlinebuilder.org - Sword Master build
Fill in points where you want, but WW is much stronger for group play. IMO, the best SM is a SnB using WW. You dont need a 2H.
You could even pick up Calming Winds, or if RR60 you could grab Perfect Defenses if you really wanted to go that route I probably wouldnt.
Hoeth means that Heaven's Blade is better, and so is Wrath of Hoeth which = more debuffs = more damage.
using WW for anyone in party. Have a Slayer in your group that you are guarding, using Shattered Limbs with your WW reducing CD = GG.
Dont waste a SC/WB slot trying to DPS please

Re: Swordmaster.... Build.
2H Ether Dance SM - if played well - is a very viable 6man offensive tank and will provide a lot more burst than Hoeth (but both are equally good imo, Khaine having slightly more burst)

Re: Swordmaster.... Build.
I agree, but how many players have capacity to meet this requirement. Not many that I know of...peterthepan3 wrote:if played well
If someone is here asking for a build, its probably safer to give the build that will likely be a much better fit and experience for them. When he gets to a point where he doesnt need direction for builds, he might be at the level where a 2H ED SM can be viable.
But just like in our Guard discussion.... how many ED 2H SMs do you see running around with FO slotted? Answer: FAR too many....
Id rather have a new player, or new SM go Hoeth, use guard correctly, group buffing with WW and learn the class REALLY well, than to encourage more 2H tanks with high skill builds, who then never end up using guard making them a wasted slot

EDIT: @ OP, Go Hoeth and you wont regret it. Focus on being a tank 1st and once you get the class down really well, once you have great gear and get things like 4/5 or 5/5 SC set, as well as look at getting the rings "Torment and Strife"
Spoiler:
Once you are geared, have experience playing SM and being a Master "guard" tank, then youll know enough to decide if you should swap to 2H or not.

Two things, I am not that much of a rookie, I played tanks on live, just on the dark side.^^th3gatekeeper wrote:I agree, but how many players have capacity to meet this requirement. Not many that I know of...peterthepan3 wrote:if played well

Thats why I wanted to try out the SM Of which I think that he is a bit of a more proactive tank. Means he does of course guard a meele or a healer/rdps, if it is necessary to releave them of pressure. But he also support them via damage instead of much utility. (of course he has some utility, but aguably less than a Kotbs or an IB.)
I just wasnt sure, which of the 3 builds especially concerning the tactics would be best.
And concerning FO.... well I guess we can agree that this is crap.^^
And thanks for the Torment tip, I forgot about those until now. Thats a great tip.

Re: Swordmaster.... Build.
What you just described, Hoeth can do perfectly fine. Youll be tankier and can spit out enough damage to support your MDPS friends. I strongly endorse Hoeth and think with most players, in most situations, its probably better than ED 2H SM. Only in 6manSC premades, with another tank (prob Knight), and corrdination ED SM can be better, and even that is arguable.Theseus wrote:Two things, I am not that much of a rookie, I played tanks on live, just on the dark side.^^th3gatekeeper wrote:I agree, but how many players have capacity to meet this requirement. Go Hoeth, SNB, and you wont regret it. When I was playing SM I was ED/2H for a while and swapped to Hoeth and LOVED it. You can put out the damage of a 2H tank, but with a SNB... And the party benefits are pretty good too with WW.

Boom! I forgot about Vaul haha! This build looks excellent. @OP, roll with this until you are geared to the teeth and then you may not even want to switch to 2H ED.Arena wrote:try this one

This build is great for 2H weapon, because they switch places of Crashing Wave and Crushing Advance, sooo OP.th3gatekeeper wrote:Boom! I forgot about Vaul haha! Re: Swordmaster.... Build.
2h SM is very viable in premade scenario's when facing melee trains.
SnB SM is viable in all situations and does around comparable damage*.
*While people will tell you thats not true let me tell you this: SM is a damage "conduit". Both whispering winds and blurring shock do not result in the SM doing uber damage on his own, but it does allow the group to deal a lot more damage/pressure.
Also the points invested in hoeth increase both your spirit debuffs so that results in your blurring shock doing as much damage as when you would investing points straight into the khaine tree.
Lets sum this up.
When going SnB Hoeth:
You gain superior overall defenses.
You actually provide (not deal) more damage than khaine 2H spec.
You gain a very powerful knockdown and whispering winds.
Your blurring shock hits just as much as when you spend points into khaine tree directly.
When going 2H khaine:
You dont insta die against melee trains of comparable or better skill.
You get a channel damage ability that takes away you auto attack damage and tends to get interrupted.
You adhere to the lore.

Also I expect the knight to get nerfed on RoR so people have to start looking into builds that allows you to be maintank a bit more
