Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
Just don't like it. Also not getting the talent point from the 4 piece set bonus

the +1 set bonus thing is very underwhelming.

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
I don't think the change between 4th & 5th set bonus was called for, but nerf to Mara, hell yes!

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
The 4- piece bonus being so underwhelming kinda makes armour mixes a lot more cookie-cutter. Everyone is going to be wearing full sets rather than mixing (4 annih + INF helm...etc).
Gear progression is simply now going to be full Ruin (entry level-t4) -> Full Annih/Full Merc (endgame). No in-between.

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
I posted in the changelog thread,
Honestly id love to see them REMOVE all set bonuses from the game. I think it forces people into pigeon holed gear choices and I dont think it needs to.
I think they COULD offer to keep the 5/5 +1 set bonus (the one that is underwhelming) but remove all the other set bonuses and apply some of those bonuses to each individual armor piece.
What this does is allows players to mix n match armor based on preference, rather than feeling the need to run X set for all the set bonuses because its BIS. Which means everyone and their grandmother all run either 4/5 or 5/5.
so, to give an example:
Chosen Ruin Set:
Set bonuses:
+ 55 Strength
+ 296 Spirit Resist
+ 55 Toughness
+ 1 Tree
So why not KEEP +1 Tree as a 5/5 set bonus.
Take the 55 STR and piece that out to maybe 2 pieces. Gloves/Shoulders.
Take the 296 Spirit Res, piece that out to the Chest/Helm.
Take the 55 toughness and piece that out between Boots/Chest
This would make all the stats the same, but with no bonuses to allow players to swap between gear much easier, while still giving a moot reward if you decide to run the full 5/5 set.
CURRENT GLOVES:
"+ 23 Strength
+ 12 Toughness
+ 8 Weapon Skill
+ 2% Parry"
NEW GLOVES:
"+ 50 Strength (+27)
+ 12 Toughness
+ 8 Weapon Skill
+ 2% Parry"
CURRENT SHOULDERS:
"+ 26 Strength
+ 11 Toughness
+ 13 Initiative
+ 3% Melee Crit"
NEW SHOULDERS:
"+ 54 Strength (+28)
+ 11 Toughness
+ 13 Initiative
+ 3% Melee Crit"
So its the SAME +55 STR from the 2 piece set bonus, but just divided out between the two pieces of gear. Heck, if they felt that because its more "open" therefore needs a nerf... You could nerf these "bonuses" a little.
If you were looking at something like a +5% Crit (as some set bonuses have this) just split it between 2 pieces: +2%/+3% onto say the boots and chest. or whatever you want.
The other option would be to just flat out REMOVE all the set bonuses, but I dont know if players would like seeing all their stats get nerfed... So I think this might be the best option.

All the more reason to make it a 4 piece thenAkalukz wrote:the +1 set bonus thing is very underwhelming.

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
Removing set bonuses is a terrible idea. You wouldnt have SETS anymore, just random gear items which vary by few stats + or -. And even though i dont like the new changes forcing to use full sets for crit bonuses, removing them would dull gearing up completelyth3gatekeeper wrote: Honestly id love to see them REMOVE all set bonuses from the game. Nerf is coming, nerf is near, nerf is something you should fear!

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
Vs how it was before where people wore 4 price set + ruin shoulders?Thelen wrote:The 4- piece bonus being so underwhelming kinda makes armour mixes a lot more cookie-cutter. Everyone is going to be wearing full sets rather than mixing (4 annih + INF helm...etc).

Why did I not hear all this crying before?
Or on live where people wore 6 price sov, WF, DS etc
Why are you guys getting worked up over "small timer sets" we have so many more t4 rvr, dungon and pve sets to go
Quit crying over these limited sets with these silly complaints of "cookie cutter" armor set ups

Re: Anyone else salty about set bonus change?
Interesting. I don't know why people find an extra mastery point, which can enable specs previously only valid at a higher renown rank, so bad - but it's beside the point. Think it's worse than crit? It's justified as the 4 pointer, then.
We plan to move away from the concept of sets later down the line, by expanding the crafting system, so don't panic over the current situation forcing sets.
