General Rules for Balance Proposals
1. This area is intended for Class balance. Keep your proposals limited to abilities, tactics, and morales. Use the feedback section of the forum for anything else. We do not take item procs and set bonuses into consideration for class balance.
2. Creating a proposal and having it go through a successful internal discussion period does not mean it will be implemented. The RoR Team will have the final approval as they actually need to do the implementation and may have insight into details of a proposal that make it undesirable or particularly difficult to implement as proposed.
3. To discourage players from making proposal threads calling for nerfs to a specific class, the Poster will be required to have the class they're suggesting at R40 RR40 on their main account. This should give you sufficient experience with the class to understand the reasons why the class is what it is. As a counter, any proposal asking for flat buffs to their class will be viewed with an appropriate level of scrutiny during the approval process. The bar will be raised significantly in this case where burden of proof and examples are considered.
4. The Poster of a proposal may be asked to join the Balance channel on our Discord for further feedback, inability to do so may result in your implementation being altered to fit our own interpretation of the proposal.
5. Proposals are to be posted in English. I don't really do other languages aside from ordering beer and finding bathrooms. If you're not a native English speaker and feel your grasp of the language would not get across your message, work it out with someone beforehand to help you construct it. Be advised you will still be expected to defend it if you are the one posting it.
6. Causing disruption on the BDF may be grounds for your removal from this particular section of the forums indefinitely. The general forum rules apply here as well as anywhere else. After some time, if you have come to terms with why you were removed, you may contact me for review of your status. I will be happy to do so on a case-by-case basis.
I feel the need to stress the importance of viewing these changes from a priority of perspectives to attain desired results. Class balance is not, and never has been, a specific tool used to force realm-wide meta changes. We understand concerns about realm-meta changes are impacted by class balance. That's the nature of working on balance in the first place. However, the priority of perspectives should be based on several things before considering the other side or overall realm meta.
1. What changes does the class need considering only its own mastery trees internally?
Do all the mastery specs function independently of each other? (2 out of 3 is acceptable)
Is there a clearly dominant spec that needs to be tuned down before others can be tuned up?
What QOL changes could be made to problem abilities with minimal impact to overall balance?
What abilities are underperforming/overperforming?
2. How does this class perform its role in group-oriented combat compared to its contemporaries? (6+ PvP)
What is the role of this class in a warband and does at least one of their specs represent this role? (this is not strictly aoe damage)
Is there room in a warband for 1-2 of these classes?
Does this class tend to overstack more than 4 in a warband for optimal use? (e.g. is it nearly required in the meta to have one in each group?)
What functions does this class share with its contemporaries, and is there room to un-mirror those functions?
3. Does this class represent a key function in overall realm meta balance?
Would removing this key function cripple the class? How would you counter-balance the loss?
Is it necessary for this key function to be mirrored to the other realm, and would that help achieve realm balance?
Does the other realm have a similar function that offsets this one either directly, or as an indirect unique function of similar value/importance?
