GTX 970 overheats on WHO, honestly thats strange. Maybe there is some driver issues, when its not increasing Fan RPM or overclocking issues.

yeah well my case has 5 fans and my gpu uses one of these fancy windforce cooling systems (3 fans on the gpu). i just cleaned the case like 2 weeks ago. these things also happen with an open case and table fan blowing inside. I really think its a driver issue. Actually 70°C is not too much at all. the gpu will only use the fans at fullspeed when it reaches 80°C. and as said: this happens after 2-3 seconds of flying around. and only with this game.

Don't see why a 970 would overheat on WHO, seeing that the game rarely goes beyond 30% usage on it.

If its a driver issue, then you'd need to clean install the drivers. This program will help, it'll remove all the hidden files leftover from normal installs. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/dis ... nload.html

Maybe its bad Nvidia drivers then. My driver version is 358.91(Win 7 64bit) and stable enough. You can try new version http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk . Remove all old drivers and install new version.

It might help -proceed with caution- underclock your GPU (if possible) - I've remedied but not fixed this type issue before.. I thought it was a case with my own gfx card but apparantly not [crashed again there].
Maybe try underclock your FSB a notch or two, worth trying.
I hate using those gfx card software (bloatware) that can adjust the settings on the card, but like I've said, I've seen some improvement with the specific crashing issues.

I would look into proper cooling in case air flow. I can't tell you how many computers i have seen and fixed due to negative air flow and overheat issues . Ppl don't understand how important cooling to system components is. Ppl take small cases jammed everything in there. No regular maintenance of dust cleaning ect... if you have open ur case to allow air flow ur case the case not doing the job. If you have a Nvidia card u have options in the Nvidia menu to adjust fan speed on start up. If you have a Evga card definitely get evga precision and adjust fan speed on start up. BTW not all cool looking cases give you air flow needed. Yes some are expensive but there are some not expensive with proper air flow. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11287&hilit=Battle+stations. As you can see mine it's has clean inside with case closed with proper air flow. But you don't need a case like mine. http://www.play3r.net/reviews/cases/the ... -review-2/ two cases low price great cooling and air flow. Little off topic but over heated system components error messages ppl think they are driver issues. Need to do full wipes ect..When in fact it's a cooling issue. Pm me here or in game I'll even talk to ya in TS to help ya or point ya in a right direction. I look at/work on my computers like cars.

Well I am in the process of trying to get everything set up. I can probably say that I have dust and air flow issues, but I just cleaned out my case and pulled off all the caked dust on my GPU and CPU's heat sinks last week.

I am still reinstalling everything and making sure things are started smoothly. Lets hope this fixes the issues, but I am pretty skeptical.

Literally before you try anything else, find a USB flash drive you can format and use as a boot device. http://www.memtest86.com Download "memtest86 image for creating bootable USB drive" It will be an application, simply drag it to the USB drive directory and you will be prompted to format. Select boot device. Shut down the PC and leave the USB stick plugged into a USB 2.0 port. Boot up BIOS usually the delete key while the computer is powering up, there should be an option to change boot priority, or a direct boot menu button usually f8. Select the USB flash drive from the boot menu list. Let memtest86 run 8 passes to confirm your ram and dimm slot are good. If you get ANY ERRORS AT ALL, you can try reseating the memory module or moving it to the other dimm slots, then retest. If you can't get memtest86 to go 8 passes without errors then you have faulty ram/dimm slot and should have it replaced ASAP.

Also 8 passes on memtest86 can take upwards of 12 hours, so its best to start and leave the test running overnight while you sleep.

ALso just so you understand why this relevant, bad ram modules can cause an entire slew of other seemingly unrelated issues like GPU drivers failing at random for example.

http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ is very nice for monitoring temps, I would use this program to keep an eye on GPU/CPU. Some of the temps mentioned in this thread are extremely high, usually playing WHO my CPU never exceeds 30*C with an corsair h60 watercooler, GPU sits around 35*C with 80% fan power.
