It happens I can't honestly say they will be gone for good but once the last load of gear is in place and allot more is fixed then im sure a number will be back.

People are just ADD. Everyone claims to love this game, and of had multiple RR80+ toons in full sov, or 100's in full DF/WF, etc etc... And yet they bitch about the grind to Conq?

Am i the only one remembering just how freaking long it took to farm up Sov?! "But I don't have the same free time I used too!" is a personal problem. The fact is, that there are plenty of people whom DO have the time to spend in this game. Go to the armory and sort by RR. See how many players we have at OVER RR75?! WITH the RR reduction past 40?

Now. You are a player that barely logs in for 2 hours a couple times a week. Should we balance the gameplay and gear progression for you? Or should we also, possibly, take into account the ACTIVE players that we have?

We had a super duper easy way to cap lvl/RR/gear. We had that for years on this priv server(to be fair, I joined right as T3 was released, and cap was lvl32 when I joined). It took all of 3 days to cap a toon. We had a LOT of fun times. Pity the server pop rarely ever went over 500, with NA time being less than 100 quite often. Why? Because people got bored out of their minds with RR being caped at 40(Mawr Purple Numbers! threads in their hundreds), and Stalker/Dev gear being BiS.

So they made the game grindier, and released T4. Now guess what?We have over 700 players in EU time nearly every day getting close to 1k on weekends, and over 250 almost every night in NA.

This is all ignoring that 3month DDOS we suffered last year as well...

TLDR: Boring games are boring. If you can complete a game in a day or 2, why would you login on day 15? Once again people, your opinion is not fact. Your liking of the "grind" is irrelevant. This is a priv server for an old and defunct game.

The server was actually often capped at its previous maximum of 1200, back when everybody was maxed out, before T4 got introduced - which was the reason for the increase to a 1400 max.

After that, and the introduction of (in my opinion) a much more grind-heavy and boring gameplay (those 4-8 hours zergy zone-deadlocks), the numbers fell and stagnated on it's current 800-ish.

The 3-month DDOS attack might have something to do with that. Then again, so could the grind. Fact is, the numbers have never recovered - so stating that the server population has increased with T4 is blatantly wrong.

You are mistaking the timeline. The server cap got increased after the release of T4, cause we suddenly started hitting the cap. The population started gradually increasing when the Cap rose to 35. Also, the release of T4 was done EARLY specifically to counter an accidental breakage of the T3 ORvR campaign. Remember when we couldn't fight around any keep or BO? For like a month? T4 got released, pop flew up, then crashed as everyone realized how bare bones T4 was, and how buggy the game was getting. Then we had a DDOS.

And no, we did NOT have super long zone takes initial T4. We had zone swapping left right and center, literally. Order would take emp while destro took dwarf. The only defenses where from people using the Highly Bugged oil/AoE cannons. Remember why each realm now owns 1 keep in every zone now? Cause people wouldn't bother attacking after the middle zone, and just gave the defenders a free cap. As they moved onto the next middle zone.

The reason the zones got reduced to 1 zone at a time was because of the blatant strategies to directly avoid any for of combat. It was RvDoor, hence the change. This is a 2realm game. If both sides are equal, they will stalemate. Obviously. Just cause you have more bodies doesn't mean you can take the other side in a straight fight.

But to your ending statement... We NEVER had over 1k regularly preT4. It just didn't happen. yea, on a special event or when something got released we did. The avg count now is far higher than it was preT4.

And you ignored my actual point though.

Its painful... yes. But it will come in time. The gear prices/drops will change when we get the next set available, and then that aet will be crazy expensive. Gives us something to work towards.

Ehm yes :) iam Best in slot since weeks and still play on.. Gear was never a Progression for me

I played t1 before there was gear, and I played t1 after. I played t2, got the gear and kept playing. I played t3 got the gear and kept playing. I played t4 got anni/merc .... and gues what ...

yup ... I kept playing!

For some reason people have tricked themselves into believing a number of falsehoods.

falsehood no1: If people get the gear they will stop playing. FALSE!
As stated, this is a private server of a defunct and dead game. We are not here for something new. We are here to play a game we love. Sure there are some people that never played WAR before, but for the most part the population are WAR vets. Been there, done that, got the t-shirts and caps.
We come back and play because the game mean something more to us than anything else ever made. Plus it feeds our homicidal tendencies around the clock, 365 a year. :)

SO, do you need to make us grind to get the gear, just so we come back? Nope. We are here already! Lower the prices, allow us to trade up our medallions, we will be back. I can guarantee it.

Agree grind as end game is flawed and turns more players away then it attract new one

It has now real own value
It unbalances classes
Creates a barrier for late comers
Influences players to zerg/pve for gear rather then pvp
