This is already happening, but people don't realize it. The corporations own the ruling bodies in pretty much every country on earth (talking about developed countries). It is 'legalized' by lobbying basically, "Buy your own politician today if your company is big enough and has enough money to bribe him!", or why stop there "Buy the WHOLE government!".

That's the world we live in today. And the future? Well, I don't see how it will change any time soon. Their power will only grow, since they are the ones making laws already, laws that give them more power of course.
