Don't rush to R40. Take your time and try to be at least RR40 by the time you get there so that you start earning conq gear in ORvR right away. With the second scen bracket being 16-39 now, I levelled my Zealot pretty much through scens only. They were popping pretty fast, not much downtime between them. I did just enough ORvR to get gear as I was levelling.

Despite what others in this thread might tell you, there is no gear gap, only rr. If you are rr 50 fighting another rr 50 and you both have conq or better it is not going to be 100% determined by gear. Which is how I would define gear gap. Obviously having Invader will give you an advantage and make you harder to kill.

Being able to stack anti-crit ans defensive skills by having a higher renown rank than your opponent is also a huge advantage but has nothing to do with gear.

Vanquisher gear and rr 70 both come from sinking time into the game. You don’t need to have BiS to be strong in ORvR. Playing against high ranked premades in scens is suicide unless you are also a high ranked premade.
Brynnoth Goldenbeard (40/80) (IB) -- Rundin Fireheart (40/50) (RP) -- Ungrinn (40/40) (Engi)-- Bramm Bloodaxe (40/83) (Slayer) and a few Empire characters here or there, maybe even an elf.
