Getting royals from high RR players would be great as would being able to upgrade lower tier medallions. It would mean you are not reliant on the random timetable of Cities and could pass them by rather than feel forced to do them when your guildies are not on.

Yes, people just dont want to play the game if its in a middle zone bc there no character progression there. This game changed tremendously in terms of gear progression when forts/cities came out to even MORE so making cross realming less of a thing. It takes a month at poopsock pace to get 1 character in full invader, you 100% absolutely have to be on that character anytime a fort is close or fort pre-zone is open no exceptions or it takes even longer. You just gonna say "**** it im 3 weeks into my IB's invader grind destro is winning so hard im gonna play my shaman I dont need to get royals from city anyways".
We had a pretty big discussion about crossrealming quite a few years ago and it pretty much universally accepted there that the thing that keeps realm pride someone intact in games like early WoW or DAoC was the character investment in terms of time put in. For a very long time on this server you could get full BiS and respectable renown rank in 2-3 weeks of poopsocking. Now its like 1 month for invader, 3 months for sov. You get the idea, there is way more time investment into character at this point of the servers life than ever before.
