Glad i had a chance to recently level and play choppa from 1 to 81. Great job pigeon holing choppa into 4 mandatory tactics (str,str/ws/lotsa chopping/25% crit) and nothing else. Keep killing the game

I could be wrong,
But way i understood it is if im on aoe BW and i spam Flamebreath for a filler aoe dps skill only to get the first instant damage tick as i have no other abilities available on cooldown. Then instead of overwriting the tick interval that is already running from exsisiting Flamebreath ticks, then the next gcd if i use an other flamebreath the tick interval will be the same and i dont lose a potential tick just by spamming and overwriting the dot by pressing the skill again.

I think..

The changes in this patch are aimed at reducing their strength, particularly their Area of Effect damage, in their small scale builds. As their small-scale and large-scale builds are nearly identical, that was hard to do without touching their large-scale builds. We know this isn’t the most elegant change at the moment. That is why we aim for a larger rework on the Choppa and Slayer when we arrive at the Damage Career phase of our roadmap in the future
I dont think it's that conplicated, just undo that abhorrent buff retribution. This is how it could look instead, with a larger focus on it's defensive capabilities.

Taking Old Retribution as a starting point and giving it one or more of these properties in addition:
Removes downside of being enraged.
Removes snares.
Builds stacks every hit refleced for 5-10 seconds(perhaps varying by tactic) and upon ending channels these stacks release a powerful aoe attack.
Gives one and or both immunities.

Or just make it a self buff that is set and forget and you can play the game with a semi reposte skill. I think this would go a long way to mend the situation of both large and smallscale slayer without taxing them an additional tactic slot destroying build variety until dps classes are put on the agenda.
Edit: in the last case i must specify that the skill should still be temporary, just to be clear.

why keep nerfing choppa/slayer? whats the point of playing slayer/choppa if not for the flat dmg output?? no stealth, no pounce, super squishy when in red, depends on guard and heals all the time??

Agreed. This game has been taken SO far away from what it was live it's hard to keep interest. Pigeonholed into playing in large groups to get measly RP only leads to blob v. blob. RP nerfs of zone locks focuses player interest only on fighting in the zone rather than the AoR focus on tier locks, city conquest and realm pride back in the day.

As a casual but regular player at RR85 staring at 5.5mil RP needed for next level, it will take me over 9 months to reach 86. AND, it means NOTHING, no ability gain or gear, only bragging rights, which I could give a hoot about. When I started RoR 9 years ago I had thoughts and interests in having many alts. Over the years they've all gone dormant because of nerfs, lack of ability strength and, mostly, because of the grind to level them up.

But I realize it's far too late to turn back from the path the Devs have paved. Hopefully through all of this they can provide some QoL in game that not only attracts but keeps new players.
