Theoretically, however, could CloudFlare protect the login server/the website against these (excessive) DDOS attacks?DaScoub wrote: About Cloudflare : "CloudFlare, Inc. is a U.S. company that provides a content delivery network and distributed domain name server services, sitting between the visitor and the CloudFlare user's hosting provider, acting as a reverse proxy for websites". So, it can't be used for the app server, the one lagging, because... it's not a web application.
If things are going that way, I wouldnt even think about delaying next tiers. If we cant stop DDoS and fighting with lags will take months/years, I would just focus on releasing another content. Its just my point of view.DaScoub wrote:Ok so, i'll be clear about DDOS : You can't protect 100% from DDOS unless you are billionnaire.
The hardware used for that costs my pay for 10 years, so no, we won't be able to have that here.
FYI, for last DDOS attack (on web server), more than 10k computers where used... BTW, we don't have more DDOS on the web server, but just on the app server for a few days.

OVH gives an anti DDOS protection, which is not as much performant as priceless hardware, but it does the job most of the time.
Yes a lot of players have knowledge about DDOS, hacking and whatever
Yes a lot of players, and even more, the staff, are upset by DDOS
But no, there is no simple way to solve that.
If someone have THE solution, he can pm me.
Just to finish, the lag is not only related to DDOS, but mainly on code optimisation problems too. The dev team is working hard on that right now, but it's not easy to solve.
I really hope everything's going better soon, but we can't tell you when.
Its all ready from what we have been told no one is rushing content.Nameless wrote:rushing content is never a good way to deal with the current problems
on side note devs give too much recognition to the ddos attacker which imo is not good way to deal with such situations. If the person behind the attacks do it cos of some grudge, just ignore him completely and he will lose interest. But when every second post is DDOS attacker that, DDOS this, etc it become some sort of motivation for some specific type of person and that attention will just fuel him to continue doing that
