If I remember correctly, Warhammer was scheduled for development by another company, I can't remember the name, but they canceled out in 2004 and that's when Mythic took over the development.

The company was Climax Studios: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climax_Studios

This game could easily come back with the proper brain trust behind it. EA and even Games Workshop have their heads in the ass syndrome.

Warhammer Online was and is still the most unique MMO to be made. Sure people can say its DaOC with a Warhammer Skin, but who cares. It just had some very terrible decisions made that lead to its downfall.
If someone were to buy all the art assets, license, and drop everything into a better engine that ran, made it a seamless environment, fixed the balancing issues, made it free to play and just sold gear this could be as successful as League of Legends. What makes this game fun isn't questing or dungeons, its RvR. So let people fight!! :)...ALL...THE...DAMN...TIME.
Even throw some random special events in for good measure like ATTACK a Warcamp and take it over for something special. People want to, so let them. Don't just limit it to the big cities. Sure its epic, but small battles can be epic too.

All of WAR FAntasy games beginning from Shadows of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen, Mark of Chaos they was not very popular. All these games have a specific climat, a 'smell' that make them a special.
So was WAR, then i try GW2, Darkfall, Panzar ( for orcs:)) Mortat and Rif. All these mmos while good, are not a WAR - who have a sepcific relampride/relamhate. I remevber times when destro left chance for loldorf , for defending Chaos Wastes. Sc orga towan sieges was fight for death - no mercy -no surrender.
That all makes WAR a jewel.
btw sry for my english.

But I don't care about RvR. Actually I do, but only as an endgame sort of thing. It's quite minor part of my gameplay(I finish my games then eventually replay them).

I want my Warhammer games fluffy and rich just like NWN/Morrowind and the like. Why do I want them like that?

Because Warhammer can carry that weight and...Warhammer deserves such games.

Why must every Warhammer game be so simple(1-2 saving graces and 1 being the IP)? Why no brilliant games like DA:O or NWN or BG or Morrowind or DS or...do I need to go further?

Simple is brilliant. If a company like Mythic doesn't have the money over complicating a game idea can destroy it and that is exactly what happened. MMO's aren't single player games so you can't expect that.

This article spells out all the things EA and Mythic did wrong with Warhammer Online perfectly. They tried too much too soon before even fixing the things that were broken.

Also, yes the Morheim game does look pretty nice. Sadly I'm jaded about pretty touched-up screenshots anymore. Show me game play please.
