You should change the post title to Entitled Player in a Nutshell.

Shades of the 'Lazy Peon' surge. If a host of new players log in as a result of the Nixxiom video most of them will be run off by the community before they reach rank 20. Those who stay, great. But don't get your hopes up.

Re: The new player experience in a nutshell
A lot of people may not agree, but bringing back T2 & T3 via the introduction of a fresh start server with planned seasonal (yearly?) wipes would probably do a lot of good for the game. Seasonal characters could be transferred to the long-running server after it ends or something.
Re: The new player experience in a nutshell
What would you prefer? Starting the game and walking around in endgame gear at lvl 16? Work for it, every veteran has done the same.

Re: The new player experience in a nutshell
To be honest thats not proper way for attracting and keeping players. All those zergling follow streamer from one game into another swapping them within a week or so. Vast minority may stick (or not).Martok wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 2:37 pmiPeriphery wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 8:36 pmThis game has a ton of potential and quite literally yesterday gotten a large amount of views about it through Nixxiom's YouTube video (which is currently sitting at 16k Views and rising).

Troma brought way more players then all those waves.

To start CS - one side have to fully lock 2 from 3 T4 directions, thats happens from time to time, but in a random time(mostly not in EU primetime and it's mine timezone). After than form premade WB where half of dps classes was banned. Be lucky to enter into a CS mirror and finally win in mirror. Get sov for non hardcore player with no 18h every day to play was a task for year.
Devs changed grind gear system and CS - now every week you have an option to participate in CS if fixed time and to gear up this content is optional. People less attracted to make full zone locks and go to CS, but now every class with every playstyle has access to top gear and eventually will get it.
It was an end-game problem, here topic about mid-game problem. Probably devs will make solution like "unified war crests" when no one on forum doesn't think about, but ask for class balance on CS.
Ironically that makes the game more accessable for new players and everybody who doesn't have the ambitions to get sov gear. Kinda similar to Shadowlands where BIS gear was locked behind the duelist rank (top 1-3% of the ranked ladder), people didn't like it but it wasn't that bad because new and bad players don't often run into a bis geared player. Nobody would have a problem if 1-3% of the playerbase would run around in sov gear but that's not the case, the amount is much higher actually.
Vets would also benefit if the game would have more fresh players, nonsense argument. And it was probably easier to get to high rank back in the days because you didn't had to fight against this many sov geared people. Same as it was easier to get glad in TBC than it is nowadays lol.

Because asking for a lower gear gap is completely unreasonable. But since you have 3 rr80+ chars and haven't done a single ranked and have a negative scenario win rate I can see why you're worried about a lower gear gap. Unfortuneately I've posted too much in WoW forums and therefore lost my will to argue with trolls a long time ago, so off to ignore you go.

When you have to resort to the Ad Hominem fallacy to make your point your point isn't worth making.

Re: The new player experience in a nutshell
An MMO doesn't need 20k players to thrives or a single server was never built for that much players. Sure the more, the merrier. But Old School versus new Modern School of gaming is just different. The game as flaws, but it doesn't slap you with price tag or micro transactions or battle-pass model. As for accessible and quality entertainment, hard to do better than RoR.
This proves RoR is in a healthy state. New players should bother learning the game, asking question. The community always does it's best to help. If new players can't help themselves or bother learning how to play... then it's too bad. With all the Youtube / Forums / Wiki information that's online now in 2025. It's hard to imagine the "basic" of the game can't be accessible.
I struggled a lot at first. I gave up on the game a couple times. But once I understood it was a game focused on teaming up and not 1v1 doors opened up. It's the best PvP experience there is, in my opinion that an MMORPG as to offer.
So yeah even new players got to bother learning and at some point.

Everyone has to grind it, no matter what mmo pvp you play. You can warband your way once you hit 40. Try playing a witch elf or witch hunter, you either do scenarios or solo roam. It was tough for me until I hit rr60 and much better now. Just have to choose and pick your targets carefully, heh. You can always get into a 6 man if you have friends, that will help you as well. Just gotta deal with it like everyone else in this game
