Re: Patch Notes 1/9/2017
Spoiler:
As it is right now all that needs fixing is the peripherals because the foundation of T234 is now PERFECT.
The fact that you plan to replace a perfect T234 foundational thing (upper tiers BO npcs/sups) with a system that WORKS for T1 BO's (because there are no keeps to deal with and the objectives are not just unimportant ornamental features of a narrative as they are meant to be in scenarios) is merely horrifying in the extreme but not something unexpected in this game.

If it fail we will revert it, like cannon hammer before or unlimited AoE for zergsmashing.Dresden wrote: The fact that you plan to replace a perfect T234 foundational thing (upper tiers BO npcs/sups) with a system that WORKS for T1 BO's (because there are no keeps to deal with and the objectives are not just unimportant ornamental features of a narrative as they are meant to be in scenarios) is merely horrifying in the extreme but not something unexpected in this game.

And scenarios? the fact that avoiding fighting has been the best way to win them for over a year now?Hargrim wrote:If it fail we will revert it, like cannon hammer before or unlimited AoE for zergsmashing.Dresden wrote: The fact that you plan to replace a perfect T234 foundational thing (upper tiers BO npcs/sups) with a system that WORKS for T1 BO's (because there are no keeps to deal with and the objectives are not just unimportant ornamental features of a narrative as they are meant to be in scenarios) is merely horrifying in the extreme but not something unexpected in this game.

Not sure if I'm the only one getting tilted when a a whole faction refuse to defend their keep, and just sit on empty BOs and run supplies instead. Seems to me that the current zonelock mechanics just don't work because of the mentality a majority of players have. Doesn't help that the contribution system makes it possible to get top contribution without even stepping a foot inside the keep area, and doesn't seem to matter if you are attacking or defending, it's always more profitable to just ignore the keep.
The situation makes the game almost impossible to play properly, unless you see getting a gold bag as the ultimate victory of the game. Right now the whole thing is a BO/supply grind with the goal being contribution. This in turn leads to warbands not wanting to fight and discourages actually improving personal skills and in general puts actual fighting in a spot where it's nothing more than an afterthought unless you can steamroll a 6-man as 2 warbands.
The RIGHT solution to the issue would be that people change their mindset and priorities, baut as this is not gonna happen, ever, I beg that the server management takes a serious look at basic mechanics to reward those that fight and at the very least make life a little more difficult for the people that don't want to contribute to the one thing in this game that actually matters, namely fighting the enemy.
It's probably not my place to come with any suggestions, but I would start with increasing personal rewards from kills and removing the heavy emphasis on the zonelock loot roll. I would also like to suggest making the keep area give increased rewards from kills, somewhere around the lines of 2-3x renown/medallions as long as the keep is lit up. Locking BOs for the time of the siege would also be a step in the right direction in my opinion, the only downside to this is that you would have to figure out a system for supplies to repair doors.
That's all, and sorry again if the post is in the wrong place.

Hm as you just cited it with no comment, I guess you agree?Hargrim wrote:lefze wrote:First of, I'm not sure where to post this, so sorry if it's in the completely wrong place.

Well I do mostly. So my question would be, is it technically possible to change the contribution system, to get more contribution from a certain area of the map? Or from certain actions?
For example:
If you turn in Resources you get 1 Point contribution
For a normal Kill in your group 2 Points contribution.
Killing a resource bearer brings 3 Points. So brings each kill while defending a resource bearer.
Resources have a timer of 10 minutes after that the remove 20 contribution, so you have to turn in
For a kill during a siege as an attacker 5 points, as well as a kill as defender.
Killing the keeplord brings 4 Points for the whole group who did it.
(Killing contribution schould always be for the whole group of cause, so that healer can get all of that as well.)
Conquering a keep gets you 20 Points, sucessfully defending one as well.
Conquering a Bo gives 10, defending one 15. (That way, defending a bo would be encouraged)
Those numbers are of cause only stand in and fully hypothetically.
My question would be, if it is technically possible and at all desirable to make it that way. And if its not desirable, why wouldnt it be. Or maybe that is the mechanic yet? If so it would ecourage fights if we would know that.
I really look forward to an answer

The contribution system surely not perfect, but at least it works and players somewhat get what they deserve. I staunchly oppose any changes to it.
The less players meddle with it - the less chance of people starting to game and cheat the system. I doubt that these changes, like arbitrary numbers of extra points of contribution, even are necessary.

To be absolutely clear, the numbers were just some random numbers I used to illustrate the correlation I meant. So dont mind them.Scrilian wrote:The contribution system surely not perfect, but at least it works and players somewhat get what they deserve. I staunchly oppose any changes to it.

And I agree it is a good system in principle. I just wanted to know if it is possible to be changed to encourage fighting some more. My idea was as said just meant as an example not as a real sugestion.
