As to why I'm still using Windows Vista in 2018... well, I just moved back to NZ after a long while away, and the only comp suitable for gaming here is my old rig from 2009 (coincidentally the same one I played retail WAR on), and I decided to keep Vista for nostalgia purposes lol. I'll be buying a new modern rig after my university is over in at the end of the year. :D

I would have sent you my last spare Win7 key just because of my pure spite for Vista, but I gave it away a week ago :(
Oh well, gl with your the game and your future rig!

Haha, well thanks anyway.

I never really had any problems with Vista back in the day, I knew everyone thought it was too resource-intensive or whatever. But with this problem I had here, I guess I'm starting to see a little why vista sucks. I mean, this lag had driven me crazy, I almost quit because of it. RvR became almost impossible because every 30 seconds, everything would freeze up around me for about 5 seconds, caused by a large lag spike. There was a large delay in everything I did. I initially thought it was just because the server is in Europe, but then when I pinged it I saw my latency was only 280ms... except for the fact that there would be regular unexplained lag spikes of up to 3500ms.

I still thought it was the server's fault. Until I pinged other random servers and saw that I was getting the same regular 3500ms lag spikes on them too. I was going to call my ISP, but first decided to check if the problem was the same on another computer. I pinged a few servers on another other comp (a laptop running win 10) and it was fine, no lag.

So then I started thinking hmmm, the network card on my desktop is damaged or something, something wrong with the hardware. NOPE! Found out it was Vista through googling vista + lag spikes and finding an old forum post from 2009.
