I'm pretty sure they will fix the expoit(s) first before resetting the gold (afaik it was the same in the past).
No one mentioned, that the gold will be reset to zero.
Gold exploits are very unhealthy for the economy (on orderside prices for bloody jewelry are 500-800 gold atm...). People arguing, that a gold reset will maybe drive away players look only on one side of the medal. The other side is, that astronomical prices for some green equip are maybe scaring away potential new players.

As a legit player obviously you can't win the economical fight against a gold exploiter.
It would be like trying to compete against a bank with just a normal company.
So it's much better even for "rich" players, when they loose some gold in the process. Else the exploiters will ruin you on the long term.

Btw exploits like this are forbidden in the "Terms of Service". The devs would be very inconsequent, if they allow some people gaining a massive amount of gold through this and ruining the economy of the game.

Two tips at the end:
1. The game has a very weak economical part; i wouldn't recommend playing it like "eve online" or else you miss all the fun stuff.
2. Don't put all your effort into farming some database entries in an alpha state game. If the devs decide tomorrow to delete eveything, all the "pixel-wealth" is lost nevertheless.

Edit: meh... i iz too slow @ typing.

I don't know how much is for you "tons of gold", but I have about 1k gold on my shaman and I had this gold by fair ways and fair prices (the item I sold the most expensive was Bloody shoulders for BO for 120g). People can have had gold legitimately, yes.

Imo those incredible prices in AH are because of so rare items and people who want to sell it for crazy prices. You have the right to find fair players who will sell it for good prices (yes they exist !), and the right not to buy those rings for 400g.

The problem is, that maybe you could only sell it for that price to someone who exploited masses of gold.

That's exactly the point. In the earlier days, prices above a certain level (25-45g for a cloak, for example) were ridiculed and never paid even back when we had amazing farming exploits like infinitely spammable Ironbreaker PBAoE, which was far better than any legitimate method for farming gear or gold. Now suddenly every Tom, Richard and Harry has thousands of gold. I'm afraid it doesn't add up.

You calling me fool than for selling items on Ah to save gold for next tier expenses? Great behaviour from dev rly.
There is no price to pay for me or any person who has legit farmed anything. You created anty- cheating/exploiting policy already, so stick with it. Ban ppl who had exploited gold and don't punish whole community. Or take easy way, wipe gold and call legit players fools further, results in ppl quitting this project will be more hardcore than lags occured last weeks.
Anyway inflation imo is not only happening because gold exploit, its just simple fact that best items like +12 jewels, lair weapons are desired for everyone its logic to expect that they will be most expensive. Ppl can still buy gale runners for 1/2 gold for piece. All this drama with inflation is just caused by ppl desiring best gear but beeing to lazy to farm/get it.

It's an alpha.

I will not allow the blame to be shifted onto the staff if the decision is made to take action to deal with a situation that was caused by exploiters. The blame is on them, and it's going to stay there.
Responding to Azarael's personal opinion, as his signature clearly states so...

Your intense emotions have brought the following image in my mind: mighty Politician on some kind of majdan-like barricade screaming into the crowd: "It is all those people who have used our badly written laws in order to get rich/armed/powerful. It is not our blame! It is their blame! Fortunately we have powers to do whatever we found fair, because we can do what we want in order to make us all happy! Innocent people will be jailed and ripped, but so what?! YES, WE CAN MAKE US ALL HAPPY AS WE WANT!"
Spoiler:

Either death to Capital or death under Capital!
It's an alpha. And? And in beta, and in version 2.53 there would be people who will farm gold and will use alarm clocks, mad trading skills or their pure luck to have more gold than the others. There will be inflation. There will be luxury items unneeded by anyone but collectors. It's normal. It's MMO. Not CS, not DOTA, not LoL, not even WoT.

With all respect to your hard work and appreciating it.
