Re: Any ideas to bring back players?
Maybe you can start by fixing things , people leave because nothing ever gets fixed specially on destro side . Secondly stop destroying the scenarios just played khaines embrace and like some other scs you made a total mess of it now those best equipped will win , no need for tactics no need for guile or brains . And finally do something about those that use external programs to circumvent the cooldowns on their abilities , its no fun dying because your fighting a cheater

As an old player who quit, but keeping an eye on forums occasionally; state of this thread is really upsetting.
Most people are arguing over small game mechanics or class balance, as if anyone left because of those, or better yet as if anyone would actually come back to RoR if they changed.
People left, because devs invented issues out of things that were not there until they decided 'it needs a fix' in a very divisive way for community and at every point a portion of community found themselves at a situation where a change fundamentally broke the way they have been playing all along. In a rinse and repeat cycle we saw;
1. change happens unannounced - no technical preparation done by devs to cushion gameplay impact of change
2. some people complain
3. devs say - decision is done
4. community divides over the change and the group unhappy about the change is told to leave the game if they dont like it
5. part of that group leaves in a bitter way
And people think those people will come back if some trivial, obscure class/faction balance is changed? Just how much in denial are those folks?
Sadly there were only a handful of posts (like earthcake's) that understands whats the issue.

I understand some ppl want to keep playing 2008 game, but that WAR is way way gone. I agree some changes could be tested before, more transparently explained, but changes are needed in themepark games.mynban wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:47 pm As an old player who quit, but keeping an eye on forums occasionally; state of this thread is really upsetting.

Re: Any ideas to bring back players?
There is no way for any dev of any game to do anything about gaming keyboards, and gaming mice, that allow use of macros to roll of rotations of abilities. This is why we had Nerfed Buttons on live. It gave those of use without the money to invest in a gaming set up a small ability to fight back.Archimediss wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:07 pm And finally do something about those that use external programs to circumvent the cooldowns on their abilities , its no fun dying because your fighting a cheater
My advise? Save your money and buy a gaming rig. Because NB is not coming back.

yet could argue most changes had no vision...Phantasm wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 12:02 amI understand some ppl want to keep playing 2008 game, but that WAR is way way gone. like buff rampage and all other undefeatable dmg to bypass guard dmg split....or other rvr campaign change which from a perspecive of a open realm vs realm game i dont like.

Re: Any ideas to bring back players?
that is not possible, coldown are lock server side, you cant ditch more skills over time that what the cd allow, margin being the 1.1 cd instead 1.5 if you press at the right moment but it has been changed for good or worst.Archimediss wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:07 pm Maybe you can start by fixing things , people leave because nothing ever gets fixed specially on destro side . Re: Any ideas to bring back players?
Nope tesq CDs are now enforced at 1,5. There is an ability q tho on server side so you can press slightly bf and have it fire at 1,5
A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7

100% this, I'm in the exact same boat. What killed the game's population wasn't necessarily changes in and of themselves. Its how they were implemented, and the attitude of the devs and players who stuck around towards those that dissented.mynban wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:47 pm As an old player who quit, but keeping an eye on forums occasionally; state of this thread is really upsetting.

Dissenter: Hey, I'm not a big fan of this change because of X Y and Z.
Devs: <doesn't actually address any of the arguments, just says "It's already been decided, we consider anyone who leaves acceptable collateral damage">
Players who agree with devs: HAHAHA U MAD? GAME IS WAY BETTER THIS WAY, GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. ONLY LIEK 2 OR 3 PEOPLE ARE GONNA LEAVE OVER THIS.
Dissenter: Oh...alright then, guess I will just leave.
A bit of hyperbole there sure, and obviously some dissenters weren't that polite either, but you can see my point I hope, whether or not you agree with it. I still follow the forums as I love the game and really do want it to succeed, but I have yet to see a suggestion that will turn things around, and sadly, I can't think of any myself either.
Re: Any ideas to bring back players?
that happened to my now Ex guild after the last year changes and classes "rebalance". Now i am alone (from an active 30ish man guild). Casually logging in time to time, but for like 15-20 mins a week and nothng more.Lawmay wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 1:51 pm100% this, I'm in the exact same boat.
