My take on why a wipe wont be necessary. Every one is gona change items/gear with lvl40. Salvage of current gear is gona make an abundance of talis for every one. Most t4 gear is bound on pickup and cant be bought. Only drop wep and some jwlry might be worth buying with money, and wep from medallion(or ex BS, LV weps) is gona be good. So money in t4 wont come into effect that much, the only advantage having much cash will give is having some purp gear quicker, or having +23/24 talis instead of +22/21 in gear. Every one is still gona have to do ALOT of pvp(or pve) for the realy good stuff.
Actually clearing gold on server might be a good thing with the release of T4. But only if its done when T4 releases. I know I contradiction my last statement but since gold in T4 kinda doesnt mather this might be the best opertunity for dev team to down the insane amount of money currently in excistence (and unevenly spread) without hurting players to much. Lest face it most of the gold was acquired by means no longer available. So the economy after a money wipe with t4 release have a chance to be more stable/better.

When this was done before, did they atleast leave enough gold to fly places?! Thats my big concern. Also there are some players who have farmed for tens of hours for stuff like Boundless gear/Brigands who sold it for gold for the purpose of preparing for T4.

It would be similar (I think) to a medallion wipe... Some players have farmed for the purpose of doing 5:1 next tier to get a jump start.... wiping that might also frustrate players.

I wouldnt be opposed to a gold wipe over X amount, like say, 1k. This way players who have a lot dont feel they were TOTALLY screwed while at the same time, removes tons of currency un evenly distributed (as you put it)

just one question from me how can the devs wipe gold ? say if i have 10k gold and devs decides wiping the gold too 1k, i can transfer the gold too my other char each char holding 1k.

If they decide too completely wipe gold, i can purchase talisman, pots etc from the AH and reselling them later.

I dunno, anyone who spent thousands of hours farming in this game, and then get upset due to a wipe is just living in a dream world..

when this game was stuck in T1, with lvl 9 gear being the highest, do you know how long it took to farm for a blue drop ? lol... Care to take a guess how many toons of mine had absolutely nothing on it but the obligatory 1 Gold and no Mount when I came back after t3 was released lol


but yah I think it would be healthy for hte commubnity to start from lvl 1 at some point. Not when t4 is released, maybe not even shortly after that.

This does not mean that I WANT a wipe, it just means that im ready and willing lol. I love WAR more than any other game and gonna take much more than a stat wipe to keep me away.

If talking about a gold wipe, I'd expect we're allowed to keep SOME gold, as in a 100g per character or something. If not, then it's gonna be extremely harsh.

I remember coming back to RoR a few weeks after T2 was released, only to find that my mount had been taken from me, and all gold except 1 per character had been wiped. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even buy the mule (Which cost 2g back then).
It was such an unwelcoming experience: "Welcome back, bitch! Now you have to run and level on foot, despite the fact that you are level 12, and have the best possible gear for your level, and you only get a few silver / quest!".

I'll be honest, I felt a lot like just logging out. I didn't though. I missed the game, and I sucked it up, and got to level 26, and then had the time of my life. So I'm happy I stuck to it. I just hope a little more consideration will be taken by the devs in the future, when wipes are being made.

yah my pre T2 Toons all have no items (other than what was worn) and 1 Gold. Couldnt buy mounts back then anyway.

Gold / Item wipes happened because of Exploiters (if not mistaken) we were lucky that the Talisman Duplication exploit didnt cause another wipe.

based on responses by officials in this thread, id say it could happen for any number of reasons, and also Not happen, for any number of reasons. At that point, it could accomplish everything and nothing at all.


Personally I wouldn't mind it as it would get rid of the massive whales out there (Looking at you Manned/Unmanned VM Scripters) , and put everyone on the same footing indeed.

I have been in close beta for commercial games three times. All these accounts, regardless of time invested were wiped clean 24 hours prior to the official launch. I expect no less and will take any remaining gift (name, copper pieces, Azarael's signed scroll...) as an unexpected favor.
