Re: To Order Tanks

So my theory has always been this: Order doesn't have many tanks because they are, at face value, significantly less appealing than their Destruction counterparts. Looking at a Chosen and a KotBS side by side proves my point. I would take my point as far as ANY mele, DPS or Tank. Why be an elf WL, when you could be a disgustingly awesome arm-morphing behemoth beating people down? In T1 Destro always has massive amounts of mele (Mostly Orcs and Chaos), and Order has a million ranged DPS (Engi and BW/SW), because, once again, it's the face-value appeal. Engineers look waaaaaay cooler than Magus even if they do the same thing. I would choose a BW over a Sorc and a SW over SH, IF we were only going on the pure RP/aesthetics of a class of course. Of course the opposite is true for Destro. When I first saw this game there way NO WAY I would kick arse on anything BUT a marauder. Obviously there are always cases to prove me wrong but I feel people do enjoy the stereotypes in RPG (If I'm a warrior I want to be big, mean, and threatening looking/ If I'm a healer I want to look the part: pure, clean, kind)

I'm sure there is more to this but it's my theory.

Yeah...this is a super cute subject. You want to know what the problem in general is? The healers and the the RDPS don't push up with the tanks and mdps. A tank that's just standing around with the backline healers and RDPS is wasting half their abilities. Heals and RDPS need to move forward and kite within guard range so the tanks can apply supplemental DPS, CC and debuffs to the enemy healers while guard switching.

I cannot tell you the number of times healers and rdps have run away from my tank (which is escorting in an MDPS) instead of to them. If you run away, you are gonna die. If you run to me, I can switch guard to you and use my taunts to keep you up while helping the MDPS take out the enemy heals.

Finally... This is how I felt as tank in this game. Order has no balls to push and lose their pretty Elfen Arse... Constantly saw them STUNTY healers run away from my guard because a SINGLE BO shield tank tickles them! Hell... I have to whisper them:"wtf is going on you got a guard what are you afraid of? come back!"... :?:

This is about what tanks have to do
not others have to do for tanks
and play a healer b4 talk about healers
no matter how good you are 1 guard + mass taunt couldn't save a healer
from rdps + mdps focus fire
All charging strategy only work when you have superior number of melees
and that is very very rare situation for Order
If you act like dps who have guard and taunt
that's not a tank

Better is guard healer than mdps because healer not run everywhere so much and enemies come to you faster or later. If I will be tank and play solo I will be spec in 2h weapon and guarding healers. Someone said to me when I was healer "tank may die, you not", about dps nobody cares. They can play without guard, but not without healer. And tank in dps, guarding healer always have heals and some kills. As IB I had for 10 kills and we offten winning 2 v 4 when I was spec on 2h weapon and guarding some healer. But this was T2:)

No. The best is to guard the appropriate target depending on the situation. Be that healers or dps, it doesn't matter. These kinds of remarks about "mdps can play without guard" are a bit narrowminded if you ask me. Be flexible and don't be so rigid.

In a real BRAWL with some sort of Tank/Melee clusterf+ck, I would always guard a melee DoK/WP first. They are tanky as hell and they can heal for amazing numbers when they are allowed to do so. Problem is mostly ppl dont like them and they let them die without support. Because well "they suck"... When they got Guard they can buff and burstheal nearby melees like crazy.

Before you talk about tanks you have to play one first ?
If tanks are not guarding the proper class it might be healers not properly supporting tanks to effectively guard .
Its about proper team play not pointing the figure of blame solely at tanks .
Taunt is dps ! IF tanks weren't designed for dps then why do they have taunt ability and option for two handed weapon?

Taunt is interrupting spells/skills, and designed to hold aggro in PvE.
