cos happened off prime time (at relative equal numbers is quite impossible to lock 2 forts to invade city) and ppl could not participate. City is endgame. And just like any endgame, it's hard.
You can't go into city yolo solo and expect to have a good time. This isn't Molten Core, it's Naxxramus. People need to plan and organise groups and play their role and have consumables and gear. Just like Naxx.
All that said, I've had plenty of fun pug cities. In fact, some of the most balanced and fun fights i've had in cities were part of 24v24 pugs.
Premades is either one side stomp or 10+ minute fights with only 2-3 kills. Not a fan.
So yeah, no risk no reward. Can't stand the heat, then stay out of the kitchen.

Its not heat its pure boredom what keeps people from joining cities. A 24 premade vs 24 premade doesnt happen anymore due to the queing system. If there are premade fights its more like 2x12man vs a 6 man and another 6 or maybe a 2x12man vs 1x12 man etc. Most of the times its a complete stomp of premade vs pug and a balanced pug vs pug is like winning the lottery of chances as its filled up 90% of classes that warbands dont really want in groups (ranged dps and stealth) or super undergeared chars.zulnam wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 10:50 am City is endgame. The problem resides in the fact that there is no reason for a loosing side to waste 1h30 mins of their life in the one sided city for basically no rewards compared to what they could be getting in the lakes and flipping zones. This leads to the loosing side automatically leaving.

also leavers punish those who stay. more ppl leave those who stay get less chance of bags. 24 men get chance few goldbag and if 4 ppl leave rest have lesser chance get even blue bag. (it was last time when i qued). and city dousnt matter anymore not gear not weapons. while pve dors are more rewarding. i would increaser rr and medals in city to get more city instances. reward-time

Early EU down to 1 org pop and late EU down to 2 org pops. Most guild leaders not taking in groups anymore.
To get organised for city you have to actually do some organisation and pick teams etc which takes time and for a lot of people isnt worth the reward. The org groups need nothing that the city gives (usually rr80+ bis chars). You then also have to be prepared for all the toxicity that comes with it and for most its just not worth the hassle.

Hard really isn't the problem imho. Imagine Naxxramas but the mob damage is randomised from pillow hits to 1shotting tanks, that'd still be hard. That'd also make everyone go Naxx, roll the dice and insta leave if it doesn't work out.
City is simply a hugely flawed design. A glorified scenario that locks you in for 1.5h or longer on a fun-roulette where, with a 90% likelyhood, you either stomp or get stomped, leaving a 10% chance for fun. Balanced matchmaking for 24v24 is almost impossible, especially so with a small playerbase. Even with 12 cities popping we had maybe 3 really competetive ones, now it's one at best.
Increasing the rewards or making the rewards exclusive changes nothing about this. Sure, more people will stay to get farmed for 1.5 hours if they get a huge reward for it but they still aren't having fun... you're paying them to be bored. The team that's farming would certainly be a little happier, but not by much either - stomping groups gets boring fast.
The only thing City is really good for is the forced 24v24 which you will almost never get in oRvR. When you get a decent fight it's great fun (for me anyway)... but reality just doesn't work out that way.

Just isn’t content that some enjoy. For me no rewards will get me to do city, same with lotd.
