Correct. Light armor should get squished in melee. Under no circumstances should a sorcerer/bright wizard/shaman/archmage/other light armor wearer be able to sit there and tank being hit in the face with an axe or sword because a potion makes their robes harder than diamond.

It already does, as molten plasma relies on resistances which are vastly less effective than armor stacking is, along with higher general damage than most melee abilities, despite having the advantage of ranged.
