This topic doesn't need more discussion. It's ridiculous to think we would ban Discord in a competitive mode, or at all for any reason. The entire argument is straddling the back of the NB ban that people are still coping over. Time to move on or get used to the new reality.
If you don't like Discord, don't use it. Be prepared for the social backlash of refusing to participate at the same level of expectation that others have in a competitive mode. You will still be able to queue without it, but don't expect people to be happy or welcoming when you aren't putting in the same amount of effort to win. You might want to compensate by making a couple of chat macros to call for targets, guard swaps, morale drops, punts, heal debuffs, etc. At least you would be putting in some comparable effort that way.
That being said, it is always appreciated when people consistently report toxic behavior. That's not acceptable in any format. Right click the name in chat and report, grab some screenshots or video and PM a GM. It's not hard to start the process and will serve a better end result than reciprocating the toxic behavior.
