Too true. Mythic didn't seem to understand that if the mechanic of a class is limiting instead of beneficial (such as SM/BO), the class' abilities had better be stronger than average to make up for that. This doesn't appear to be the case for SM/BO. Still makes me laugh that Chosen Ravage damage matches Cleave, but Ensorcelled Blow has lower base damage than Gryphon's Lash.
Yeah I absolutely love proper class mechanics like war had. Alot of mmos just have different playstyle, abilities or buffs. swtor went with different ap management styles.
War though had proper mechanics that meant every class had something totally unique that affected everything. I always think mechanics should be beneficial and class defining. The bw/sorc as flawed as it was with explosions not really a drawback in groups was a fantastic mechanic. Made the class.
Compare that with SM/BO or even WL with its totally broken pet ai. Why mythic never fixed these mechanics when they could have been the highlight of the game is beyond me.
If it ever gets to the point that they want to improve the game. Start there. Make each class defined by their mechanics and make them a real benefit. Not a drawback or something you might as well not have on the hotbar.
I remember building an archmage that could use the spellweaving style. Had both the crit bonuses, the extra mechanic point on a crit and the chance to not use stored mechanic. Had in mind a healer that could throw a couple of nukes every few gcd. Started leveling. By t3 realized it was useless. Might as well ignore the mechanic. Ended up as a gimped bw. My tabletop class. Gimped by a useless mechanic. Then tried SM my second fav TT class. The horror. Then 3rd retard lion. Mythic hates elves, unless they are half naked emo chicks.
